Watching it now. Too many opinions that aren't backed by science for me to take it serously.
Also, right after that show is NGC Explorer "Testosterone Factor" at 8pm. That looks like it might be a little more intelligent and science based. |

the testosterone factor show that came on after it was great. it was pure science and no hype or media bullshit.
they did tests and studies on all kinds of animals, fish, etc.. it is amazing how our mind influences testosterone. for example, they were looking at a group of fish. in the tank was the dominant male. he was brightly colored and much more aggressive then the other fish in the tank. his T levels were several times higher then the other males in the tank. the other males in the tank were reduced to acting like female fish just to eat and live, they had almost no color at all. one night, the researchers took the dominate male out of the tank. within 5 days, on of the males that had previously been a nobody in the tank had taken complete control. his test levels rose sharply and his colors changed. the point was, just the environment your in can change your t levels. same goes for humans. as soon as men get married, researches saw a decline in test levels. same goes for having kids. mens levels fall again. but as soon as a man is back on the dating scene, his levels suddenly rise again. it was a great show, you guys should check it out. |

I didn't get to see the test factor, but I thought the science of steroids was ok. The thing that I didn't like is how they would make a single statement which by itself is basically true. But they don't say anything about it not being normal or that there are ways to prevent or stop the problem. Like with the teenage baseball player. They stated he stopped cold turkey but they never said anything about people don't normally stop cold turkey or there are PCT options. Also that 50% of steroid users are over the age of 30 and are using it too look better. They make it sound like it's simply vanity and it has nothing to do with being able to exercise better and lead a healthier lifestyle. I think the show was good info for someone who doesn't really know much but it could also lead to the old saying "a little information could be a dangerous thing".

I didn't get to see the 2nd show, Test. factor, but will have to see if I can still find it in the guide. I'm not sure if any of you remember, but the baseball players father that was on the first show was on this website several years back getting into discussions or disputes about his opinions at that time. |

yep, the hooton guy. he is a good man that loved his son very much. but he is a little bit blinded by the light so to speak. he accepts no responsibility and will simply not even listen to the fact that maybe his son had something a little wrong with him before he got into steroids. he simply says, "steroids killed my son". and that is why i cannot take him seriously. steroids definitely had something to do with his mental state but there was a reason his son went so far as to kill himself. underlying issues that i feel deep down his father knows about but simply cant admit it.

I agree with you there Bouncer. I think some good has come out of it though. I am not against steroid use so to speak but I am very much against the high school kids taking them. I saw a need for it when I was in school with a strict football program. I think each state has it's hs sports spotlight in some fashion and in Texas football is a huge one. The place in which Hooton was when he died is almost somewhat in a bible belt of sorts for high school athletics be it baseball or football. I feel kids are taking them because it's their chance to be the superstar or to get into college. Blame whomever needed, but the drive to perform at that young age is there in my opinion.
I will be interested to see how the law that Mr. Hooton got passed in Texas takes place over the next few years with H.S. testing for AAS. Sorry to ramble on there... |
