table manners
Hello, we at my parents eating dinner last night. My sister and her fiance were there too. I looked up and saw my sisters fiance totally cutting his meat wrong. I know I am pregnant and everything bothers me, but I couldn't believe that my sister has never said anything to him about this.
(He holds his fork in the meat like he is stabbing it and cuts with the knife on the inside of the fork.) This guy isn't 18 either, he's 29! He's dated plenty of other girls and I'm sure ate dinner with them... I can't believe that no one has ever said anything to him about it. Please parents, teach your kids the right way to cut their meat!

hmmm, i suppose sticking it with the fork lifting it up and just taking bites out of it would not be proper either?

It's kind of difficult for someone to correct their flaws if they are not aware of them and/or nobody brings it to their attention.

well, it depends on what he does for a living. if he's not in a position that doesn't demand that he socializes for work, it shouldn't matter to anyone but your sister. so if she hasn't corrected him by now, it must not bother her.

I'm gonna have to side with dreamgirl on this one....I always notice when someone has poor table manners as well (it doesn't drive me crazy or anything, but I certainly notice). I guess it all depends on how you were raised; if your parents weren't particular about it, then you most likely won't be either.

god the humanity... Im sorry, but unless the guys is using the table cloth as a napkin and chweing with his mouth open, who really gives a fuck how he cuts his meat, ur sis is happy with him, end of story

Well, I don't know what to say...
if you have kids then you will be teaching table manners, so eventually if not now, you will have to teach them how to eat correctly. I know we're always going over table manners with my daughter. the way some of you talk, you want me to let her chew with her mouth open, hold her silverware any old way, and it won't matter... Im sure you'd like to bring a girl home like that to your parents.

When it comes to table manners the only thing I can think of as being offensive is as follows:
chewing with mouth open farting burping bouncing in your seat(I'm always on my kids about that one.) picking the nose reaching across someones plate Does it really matter what fork they use or how they cut there meat......
