They may not be good for the game but you've got to give it to them....The Red Sox couldn't swing the deal so they stepped up and did whatever was necessary to get it done.
That being said, the team that is the most talented, or spends the most, doesn't always win.

What a bunch of crap, the players union acccepted this deal but turned down the Red Sox deal? You can't tell me Steinbrenner has the fix on with the league. Does anyone remember when the Commissioner said the Red Sox would be too powerful when they had a trade for Vida Blue and Rollie Fingers back in the day. Give me a break, the league cowers to George. Once again he cannot buy a world series cause his pitching blows right now.
A bitter Red Sox fan. Yankees Suck and Jeter blows A-Rod.

Red Sox whiners: If your cheap-ass team hadn't tried to defer so much of the money, it would have gone through just fine. The players union that scuttled the trade because they have a rule that a contract cannot be restructured in a way that impacts the current value of the deal more than X %. It's a formula they use, and that was why A-Rod isn't in Boston.
