i don't understand Mrs. P. i went to watch 28 days later when it premiered and there were small children there with their parents wtf? everything that's in this movie was supposed to be as close to the bible's words as it can get. there are only two scenes where he strays from the bible, but have no impact to how the story unfolds. for years, and years, and years, priests have been teaching the bible but no one has ever recreated just how much pain and suffering Jesus actually went through for us. (if it's true)
i don't think i'd take my children if they were too young, but they have to understand (without sugar coating it like it's been done for so long) the importance of his last days on earth. and the article doesn't even touch base on her health conditions. it's too bad she died, but come on. over the movie? anyone ever see the last temptation of christ? no one died there did they? i would think that was MORE controversial than this.

Some people have a heart attack while sitting down and eating dinner.

I am told that this movie has gripped people emotionally like no other, so I am not suprised.

To me, the difference between the violence in this movie vs. the voilence in most movies is that this is based on fact because there was a man who actually did suffer like this. So imo. it's much harder to see. A fictional movie you know is just pretend so it's not as disturbing.

I guess what it comes down to is that some people are just much more emotional than others. I would recommend against seeing this movie if you're a guy on clomid or a womam PMS'ing.

I think I see the problem here. 2 "physicians" tried to revive her before the paramedics arrived. Happens all the time.

Ya I just saw it. I wish it had more character development, it seemed like the movie was one giant climax. So I was almost crying at first just out of the sheer brutality, but then I got de-sensitized as the movie progessed and then it was just kind of gross. When you see pictures of Jesus with scratches all over... holy shit. I wont look at those the same way again. It never occured to me how those scratches got there. It also never occured to me as to "why" he wore a crown of thorns, nor that the so called cloth with his face "burned" into it could have actually been blood. It also occured to me that I am the biggest sissy on earth and I dont actually know what pain is. I dont care who he was, if he was a god or a crazy man, the way he died was extremely sick and brutal. The way people gathered around like it was some kind of circus entertainment.... And the worst part is that it was all very true. It actually happened. Yes there are/were people that fucking disturbed. People were crying as they left the movie theatre, even guys. It was the most silent exit ever, usually people yack it up as soon as the credits come on. It was perfectly SILENT. LOL

Yes, Aurora, no matter what your religious beliefs are, "It is as it was," a horrible crusifiction. I learned all about it in my strict Catholic upbringing with the Stations of the Cross, etc.

My friend saw it too and sent me this e-mail:

"The movie was brutal, as you may have heard. I could not watch when certain cruelties were being administered to Jesus. I had to look away, but hearing the sounds was bad enough! I thought I was safe at one point, but when I looked through my fingers, it was just in time to see the whip with the metal barbs on the end grab on to flesh and see it ripped away. I felt my stomach turn, but I maintained. The thing that struck me was that there was utter silence on the way out of the theater. People were getting out car keys and stuff, but there was NO talking whatsoever. It was like a funeral procession."

The silence was shocking. It was actually a very artistic movie. The graphic brutality wasnt as bad as the subtle shots and sounds that made it over the top. I really enjoyed satan. That depiction is almost exactly how I would imagine a satan to be. Beautiful, persuasive, charismatic, arrogant. It was perfect.
