NHL Monday Picks

3-0 on my last hockey post; +$300
9-4 last week on posted hockey picks; +$556

tonites picks are:

Minnesota and Detroit under 5.0 –115

Minnesota’s offense hasn’t been scoring much lately, as they have scored 2 goals or less in 5 of their last 6 games overall and 2 goals or less in 4 of their last 5 games on the road. Every now and then they’ll have a good offensive game on the road like they did in Chicago last week, but those games are few and far between. I expect their offense to be back to their old selves in Detroit tonight. Detroit has given up 2 goals or less in 10 of their last 11 home games, and Manny Legace has given up 1 goal or less in 5 of his last 6 home starts for a 1.15 GAA.

Detroit’s offense hasn’t been all that explosive lately. The Wings have been held to 3 goals or less in their last 7 home games, while the Minnesota Wild has given up 3 goals or less in their last 13 games, so the Wings will probably not be scoring more than 3 goals tonight which is good as far as the under goes. Fernandez has given up 2 goals or less in 4 of his last 6 starts and has a 1.98 GAA this month.

The under is 6-0-1 in Detroit’s last 7 home games and 9-2 in Minnesota’s last 11 road games. The under is also 4-1 in their last 5 meetings between these 2 teams.

Los Angeles and Colorado under 5.0 +100

LA’s offense have been playing poorly lately scoring 2 goals or less in their last 5 games, scoring a total of just 6 goals in those 5 games. David Aebischer should start tonight for Colorado. Aebischer has been solid on home ice lately, giving up 2 goals or less in 6 of his last 7 home starts for a 1.96 GAA.

Colorado’s offense hasn’t been playing that well either, scoring 2 goals or less in their last 6 games, scoring just a total of 7 goals in those 6 games. Christobal Huet should get the start in net tonight for the Kings. Huet has a 1.41 GAA in 3 games against the Avalanche this season. Huet gave up 3 goals against the Flames in overtime last Saturday, but rarely has games where he gives up 3 goals or more twice in a row. Huet has only given up 3+ goals twice in a row once the last 2 months.

The under is 6-2 in Colorado’s last 8 games and 3-1 in LA’s last 4

Parlay: Detroit –0.5 & Vancouver –0.5 –101

The Wild have only one once in the 2nd half of BTB games this season out of 15 games, and have never won BTB games on BTB nights this season. As I mentioned before, Minny’s offense has been cold lately and should do much against Legace who’s gold on home ice. The Wings have won 2 straight games, and are 9-1-1 in their last 11 home games.

The Coyotes have won just once in their last 19 games going 1-14-4 and are 1-9-1 in their last 11 games on the road. The Yotes have scored 2 goals or less in 10 of their last 11 games and are going to be shooting against Dan Cloutier whose played really well on home ice lately, as he’s given up 2 goals or less in 6 of his last 7 home games for a 2.01 GAA. Cloutier is 4-0-2 with a 1.78 GAA the last 2 years against Phoenix. After a long slump, the Canucks have won 2 in a row including a victory against the red hot Dallas Stars on Saturday. The Canucks have scored 3 goals or more in 3 of their last 4 games while the Coyotes have given up 11 goals total in their last 3 games. Boucher is 1-3-1 with a 3.57 GAA lifetime against Vancouver and is 0-5-2 with a 3.07 GAA in March. Vancouver is 6-0-2 in their last 8 games against Phoenix and 5-0-1 in their last 6 home games against the Coyotes.

Parlay: Atlanta and Toronto under 5.5 & Columbus and Buffalo under 5.0 +375

Atlanta’s offense has been up and down lately, and hasn’t scored more than 3 goals in a game in their last 7 games, with the games where they do score 3 goals against below average goaltenders. With Belfour in net tonight I’m not expecting great things from Atlanta’s offense tonight. Belfour has given up 2 goals or less in 5 of his last 6 starts overall and 2 goals or less in 4 of his last 5 home starts. Belfour also has good history against the Thrashers, posting a 1.72 lifetime GAA against Atlanta and has given up 4 goals in 2 games against the Thrashers this season. Toronto’s offense hasn’t been doing well on home ice lately, scoring 2 goals or less in 4 of their last 5 home games, while the Thrashers have given up 2 goals or less in 6 of their last 8 games overall. In 2 games against the Leafs this season, Nurminen has a 2.10 GAA against the Leafs. All 3 games between these 2 teams this season have gone under the total.

Both teams have been playing good defensively lately. Buffalo with Biron in net, has given up just 5 goals total in their last 4 games, and have given up just 1 goals per game in their last 2 home games. That’s somewhat impressive when you consider that their last 2 games came against a Pittsburgh team which had been scoring a ton of goals before their BTB series against the Sabres. Columbus’ goals against has also been good lately has they’ve given up 2 goals or less in 4 of their last 5 games while Buffalo’s offense has been held to 2 goals or less in 4 of their last 5 games. The under is 4-0-1 in Buffalo’s last 5 games and 3-1-2 in Columbus’ last 6 games.

I took a leap of faith and bet on the Sens tonight. They won, but they didn't make it easy on me. Watching that game probably took a month off of my life!
