dAMN, AND I THOUGH THIS CITY WAS UN-NOTICABLE.
Book ranks Laredo worst U.S. city to live in BY CELINA ALVARADO Times staff writer It was the best of times; it was the worst of times, for the city of Laredo that is. At least according to a two men study-turned-book "Cities Ranked and Rated," released Tuesday. The book, written by Bert Sperling and Peter Sander, a "well-known" demographic researcher, ranked Laredo, Texas, at the bottom of the metropolitan pool, according to a USA Today review. Out of 331 Metropolitan areas, Laredo ranked 331, making it the worst city to live in according to Sperling. The best? - Charlottesville, Virginia, which was applauded despite having "high housing prices." According to the review, Sperling wrote "Laredo's bustle, lack of intellectual stimulation, poverty, high crime rate and heat will try anyone's patience." But could the report mean bad news for the city and its multi-million dollar efforts to attract tourism, given the book (which hit shelves March 30) was nationally acclaimed for being the "ultimate resource for relocation, recreation and retirement?"

Don't feel too bad, Juice. This could start a downward trend in real estate value, meaning it'll be cheaper to buy a house when you're ready if you decide to stay there.

I dont know if i wanna live here but if its all good and i make good money i'll take advantage of it.. I was planning to move to San Antonio and maybe work at Toyota PLant they are building there. My uncle is an engineer or something big in the Indiana Toyota plant. If not there I'll probably move to Austin. Just too tired off all the bullshit here. But the houses here are a nice decent price. My buddy bought a huge 150,000 dollar house. 4 rooms, 2 huge bathrooms, garage, and nice back year on a hill.

Hahahahahahaha
College Station is rated at the top of the list. Are they joking? Bryan College Station has never been veiwed as a good place to live by anyone I know or by anyone that goes there. It just happens to be in the middle of Austin and Houston so it isn't too hard to go find something to do if you don't mind driving an hour or more. Otherwise, just hit up Northgate or the other bars that you could run through in a week or two and see nothing different. Other than that, go to school or yell practice..... |

46. Harrisburg-Lebanon-Carlisle, PA
What the hell? I don't think this guy has actually ever been to these places! Talk about NOTHING to do, Harrisburg is boring, IMO. How did it make the list and not Bryn Mawr or Villanova or Wayne or Berwyn. They are outside of philly, which sucks, but there is stuff to do there atleast. I think this guy is an idiot. This is a cool site I found when I was bored. Check out your cities stats here: http://www.city-data.com/ Chris Last edited by Chris : 03-31-04 at 03:00 PM. |

25% or a 1/4 of the population has their car stolen...thats shitty!
I have a friend that lives up there and she has always told me about the city there, but still. I guess thats why everyone lives in the burbs up there. |

Its a good thing I live in the suburbs where they don't even mention crime rates, here's Philly the big city I live near:
Crime in Philadelphia (2001): 309 murders (20.4 per 100,000) 1,014 rapes (66.8 per 100,000) 9,604 robberies (632.9 per 100,000) 10,477 assaults (690.4 per 100,000) 11,629 burglaries (766.3 per 100,000) 45,318 larceny counts (2986.3 per 100,000) 15,527 auto thefts (1023.2 per 100,000) City-data.com crime index = 630.0 (higher means more crime, US average = 330.6) Chris |
