Primal Instict
What do you do for a living? What was your major? After reading your posts in the political threads my wife and I are dying to know. I wish I knew the details as well as you do so I could argue my points a little more effectively. But then again...I'm not really that into politics.

I too want to know what your major was, if you don't mind sharing it with us. I like how you step back and don't take either side. You just point out the factual information and how wrong "loaded" the wording of these texts were. I just read about loaded for my English class in school. You seem to know a good deal of information and how to present it well.

Wow, what a suprise to see a thread with my name on it. It's kind of a strange feeling, lol.
Anyway, I'm not a political science professor nor a historian. I'm employed in the tech field, formerly a criminal justice major who switched over to the skilled trades and then into the tech industry. I'm a voracious reader, and I like to know answers why things are as they are and how different things interact and why. Although I have learned much in college, I feel that my true learning was acquired in the real world. Probably my best strength is that I can get along well with many different types of people and consider myself somewhat a student of human behavior. I read my Einstein, Sagan, Hawking as well as political (many points of view), history, entertainment- love Stephen King- and like to dig deep for answers to questions of all sorts that aren't always so apparent on the surface. I have felt the pain of layoffs and family losses, as well as tasted the fruits of success in many endeavors. I am a childhood cancer survivor and regard every day as a bonus day of life. I currently run my own business, although at this point in the economy it is rather slow. This will change eventually, as things always do. I feel that religion has a certain correlation to science yet I am not a particularly religious person, although I do consider myself a spiritual person. I am wary of people who appear to tout religion as a means to gain superiority over others. Religious beliefs imposed upon others and intolerance are probably the main reasons for the trouble this world faces today. The only difference being, is the lethality of the weapons we have available to impose one's will over others. Don't misunderstand me though, religion does have a useful purpose, as a guideline for its indigenous society to live by. It should not however, be so inflexible that it can't grow with that society's intellect. I find physics deeply intriquing yet I can go out and get shitfaced drunk with the best of them. I seldom drink very much anymore and usually not in mind-numbing quantities like I could 10 years ago. Of all the different attributes people have in this world, I find that humor may actually be the most universally acceptable. I guess that I just spend more time on issues than many people and when I find something that piques my interest, I attack it with a fervor. I would not consider myself a dove nor a hawk. Neither a democrat nor a liberal, I am somewhere in the middle but choose to subscribe to my own beliefs after careful consideration of facts. I like to hear all sides of an argument even if I don't necessarily agree with someone's viewpoint. It can broaden your understanding of the mindset of people and issues. I feel that people can learn important lessons not only from each other but from children and even animals in this world. This particular lesson came hard to me but that makes it more valuable in my opinion. Unlike adults, I truly believe that young children and pets are the only entities in our life who have no prejudices or preconceptions about us. We could learn a lot from them. Above all things that have caught my attention in the last ten years, I truly believe that we as citizens of this great nation, must take an active interest in our government. If we choose to ignore it or place too much trust in our elected officials, they will abuse their priviledges. It is simply human nature to take advantage of those unsuspecting of one's motives. We owe it to ourselves and our children. I would very much like to leave this world a little bit better than when I found it. That's about it. Disappointed?
