Sleep aids?
I can't sleep for sh!t here lately. I have been told to try melatonin. Anyone have any suggestions for a sleep aid I can take from time to time. I often lay in bed for hours trying to fall alseep and end up only getting a few hours each night. When I do sleep I wake up sweating my butt off, get up drop the a/c to about 70 with the fan on full blast and no covers and I still wake up sweating...

Maybe try some L-tryptophan or 5-HTP. Better tryptophan since 5-HTP can have some nauseating and gastrointestinal side effects. Just eat some turkey to get your tryptophan.

Everynight I wake up sweating too bro, I dunno what the deal is I have my ac at 60 and I wake up cold sweating like crazy, sometimes confused to where I am. Recently my allergies have been goin nuts and I've used benadryl for them before I go to bed, the stuff knocks me out pretty well, still wake up and what not but hey, better than laying in bed all night.

i read an article in mens fitness about sleep and bodybuilding . it was depressing, i only get about 5-6 hours way not enough . That will wreck your nervous system alone when training hard.
see a doc.

A little growth never hurts either...
I'll take everyone's advice and put in to see a doc next week. The combination of little sleep and nothing to do at work has drained me the past few weeks. |

ive always had trouble sleepin. i have tried the "natural" supps. as well as the otc sleep aids. none of them worked for me and i thought i was shit outta luck. so i talked to my girlfriends mother (who is a doc) and she hooked me up with Ambien. i have not had trouble since, within 15 min of taking the pill im out like a light. the only drawback to Ambien is its a bit addictive and you have to make sure you are going to get a full nights sleep when you take the pill or else its a son of a bitch to get up. hope this helps a little.

melatonin and 5-htp knock me out pretty good, only problem is, your tolerance will grow and eventually, they'll be useless, so only use them when its a must.

IMHO, Ambien is the best sleep aid. So, ask your doc about it when you go!

I've heard a lot of people being happy with Ambien.
I get insomnia from time to time (it has been the worst whenever I've been on cycle) and often soaking in a hot bath for about 20 minutes will help relax me so I can fall asleep. Also, Vallerian Root taken about an hour before bedtime helps a lot of people. If you open the capsules and make a tea out of it, less time is needed to feel it's effects.

Melatonin really works for me. So much so that I have to split the pills to reduce the dosage. Otherwise, I would have trouble getting up and then would feel like I had a hangover in the morning. Also, I only use it occasionally.
And actually a small glass of milk warmed in the microwave works. This is really good for when I wake up in the middle of the night and have only 3 or 4 more hours to sleep. |
