At this point if someone doesn't like the Glock trigger pull or the lack of external safety that's one thing. But for anyone to say a Glock is overrated or an inferior sidearm is just an ass. They've become one of the most issued weapons worldwide, the manual of arms is simple, parts are at a minimum and reliability is without question. You can bury it at the beach, run over it with a truck and freeze it in a block of ice and still shoot 1" groups all day long.

The only thing I change is the stock polymer sights for metal tritium nightsights. Other than that I have and do trust my life to a Glock.

I carried the fullsize .40 as my sidearm and the model 27 on my ankle as backup. Same round and could take same magazine. No need now, so I carry the airweight concealed. The Glock is always still close by though...

Agreed. Glock is a great handgun but it all comes down to personal prefrence. Glock is a different animal, took some getting used to when I first pick it up but now I that I have spent time with lit I like it a lot. When a friend tries it out and he is used to say the 1911, he can't hit shit with it. I do not do well with the 1911 because it is too small in my hand. Just like anything else it's all about what works for you.

You apparently don't know much about gun politics. Glock has alot of the market by balls and probably always will. They were able to find a buyer in the states and a few other countries to be able to import the weaponsm at a lower cost. Steyr is a competater of Glock and also made in Austria. I have shot many Glocks and had more failures from them than I ever did with my Steyr. Steyr only recently found a buyer to be able to import into the states with a decent price. This is why it has not really taken off yet. The price of the Steyr has come down considerably. The funny thing is, Glock costs no more to make then a Steyr, but they charge about $200 more.

Many guns can replicate the dependability of the Glock, especially Steyr. NOt to mention, a Glock can be rendered usless by an attacker in CQB very simple if they know what they are doing. Simply hit the barrel of the gun so the slide moves the tiniest bit and it will not fire. This does not work for anything weapon that has a hammer. Sounds stupid, but if someone is pointing the gun at you, and we all know that a majority of gun fights happen within feet, you will most likely be able to reach out and do it.

Its called taking the gun out of battery and anyone who has any firearms training or weapon retention skill will kill you if you try. Additionally just smacking the pistol and making the slide move will not cause a malfunction especially with a Glock. You need to keep the slide pushed in, off center and the weapon will not fire.
