Was a pretty good show. They had the author of Anabolics 2004 on there. The show was filled with facts instead of BS. They were saying how there is already Gene manipulation going on right now, They showed this cow (not from the myostatin ads) I swear to god this cow must have been 3000lbs of muscle. They inject a virus that shuts of the bodys ability to stop muscle growth.

Was that the bull? I saw a piece on a a bull before and it was insanley massive. If I recall it was due to gene manipulation.

Yeah i remember that pic from way back, the research is at least 10 years old. I caught the last half of the show. I still do not understand why we call them cheaters if they enhance. It never made sense because say there was person A and person B. A could have a higher output of test and favorable endocrine horomones that makes him/her perform at a higher level than B who is much below him genetically. So when they talk about a fair playing field it is not true because genetics does not allow a fair playing field, everyone is different. I just don't get it with some people.

I thought it was a very interesting show, and kinda makes it obvious how easy it is to tweak a formula just a little and make it undetectable. They can't test for something they don't know exists. But the guy is totally delusional if he thinks he's ever gonna clean up sports. Shit, they have swimmers and bicycle riders taking more shit than most rec. bodybuilders. Drugs will always be in pro and am sports. I was surprised they didn't say more about pro bodybuilders. They could show tons of photos of obvious GH use and how it's changed pros bodies. They talked about BALCO some but focused more on high profile pro athletes like Barry Bonds.

i totally disagree.

bouncer and i were just talking about it.

genetics are what get you to that upper 2% of competitors. even if i gave bouncer all the drugs that track stars use and train him the same way, he wouldn't be a track star.

at that upper echelon of sport, it's about the edge - not so much "getting there" because of your genetics.

and if that edge is so tiny - is it fair that one person has an unknown advantage b/c they're supplementing over the other person who hasn't?

Stone, your 100% incorrect bro. At that level they are all blessed with genetics for that certain sport. That makes it somewhat level. When you add something that someone else dosent, its cheating no matter what you say. There is no place for drugs in the Olympics. It is totally different in the world of bodybuilding because every top competitor is using.

I am saying that all sports are inherently unfair. Yes they all have good genetics to get to where the at but if you take all that group and compare their horomones levels some will be higher than others. there are always genetically superior people to even genetic superior people, so I don't believe there is an even playing field ever (in the terms they are trying to use), which is fine. But the whole point is that people want to see performance and that comes with enhancment. the olympians are already juiced to the gills and if anyone believes anything else then they are mistaken. I wish they would take all drugs out of the olympics and you would not see one new world record again and it would serve them right because they don't understand the nature of the games, which is to see what is humanly possible, which i think includes everything.

I just dont agree. If someone has an advantage because of there genetics thats fine, its a natural advantage. Using drugs in the Olympics just isnt right IMO.

I guess i was just taking it the extreme example that no two people are identical so to talk about a "fair playing field" does not make sense. I don't believe the olympics would exsist or be popular at all with clean athletes (about as appealing as a natural bodybuilding show).

i didn't hear that, BUT i did hear a thing on NPR last night that was talking about doping in sports. and they talked about IGF-1 and that the only effective way to use it - is through GENE THERAPY. the researchers on there said that even if you stabbed yourself everyday with it, it won't do anything - your body has to be coaxed into making more by itself.

they said gene doping is the next step - and that it would be undetectable b/c you'd have to cut a piece of the athlete's muscle out to test it.
