The Hurricane is Comming right here....
99.999 Percent of the time living in Florida is a great thing.
Not tomorrow We are gonna get a direct hit from hurricane Charley tomorrow afternoon. Looking at 100-140MPH winds. The most powerful storm to hit this area since 1921. We have friends (and their pets) over because they have been ordered to evacuate. 1/2 million people have been ordered so far. We live on higher ground (sort of). Our house only 4 years old and built to withstand 125mph winds. We will be testing the quality of construction tomorrow. Tonite we are having a hurricane party. I will try to take some video as long as I am not hiding under my couch. wish us luck

A hurricane party? lol. Maybe you should lay off the alcohal for a night and board up your windows and make sure that anything that can fly is inside your house tightly secured.
Best of luck to you guys. From what I read, TB is going to get nailed. IntesityX, Andrew did not hit Tampa Bay. They havent had a hurricane in 80 years.

We actually did not party at all.
Turns out the "safest" room in our house is a downstairs spare bedroom that I have been using as a giant storage closet for a year or so. I have a big signed baseball and bat collection that I have to get out of my office upstairs. We may have more friends comming over, they all have pets. Great Dane Pit Mix Shephard 3 Cats This is gonna be fun. NOT...

The other areas around the hurricane are on tornado watch so we're still keeping our house secured. But thankfully we won't get the flooding that was expected. The sad thing about the change of the hurricane is that most of the people that live in those areas are older people. Good thing is that those areas are much less populated. Keep the older people in your thoughts, they're frail and just can't handle the aftermath of a situation like this as well as younger people.

I feel you on this one buddy, I lived in Miami during Andrew, looks like I'm pretty much in the clear this time though.

I'm not in an evacuation zone, but I have four people and their pets here with me that do. It's is eerily calm right now. There is an occassional drizzle and the wind is calm. It is apparently going to hit below us in the Ft. Myers area and we will see hurricane winds and rain. We'll see!

Puddles, 'bout living on high ground I know how you feel. When TS Allison hit Houston, most parts of Houston got flooded but we live on relatively high ground in my neck of the woods and got lucky.

Fortunately, everything passed by me here in Tampa. Porta Gorda (sp), got hit with the eye and up to 160mph winds. It ripped the roof off a shelter and the Holiday Inn that a news crew was in. It was strange, looking outside and seeing it so calm and then watching tv and seeing so much destruction...with the same storm.
