I'm on the SE coast of NC , it may even hit here...a lot of them seem to come right towards the cape fear river....I've been through a lot of them in the last 10 years....they suck.

I tell you what if this thing makes a path more toward where i am which is 15-20 mile north of Punta gorda. I am boarding up and heading up north for the weekend. The last one was to close and i don't think my family wants to stick it out.

Smart move IMO
Everything depends on the pressure system to the east of the hurricane, if it retreats the hurricane will move east as well, but if it (the pressure system) continues to push west...so does the hurricane, which ultimately spells trouble for us. Either way Florida will feel its effects, but the less the better.

Looks like 3 or 4 am for Tampa on Sunday. We're not in an evacuation zone so we'll probably stay put, get prepared again and hope for the best. Wish the time of day was different for us though...it's frightening when it's dark and you can't see outside.

They have already ordered nearly 500,oo people to begin evacuation:
"Evacuation orders were posted for 300,000 residents in coastal areas of Palm Beach County, and 192,500 were told to leave mobile homes and low-lying areas of Brevard and Martin counties. The evacuation orders were set to take effect Thursday afternoon." They are worried for people that are not in the direct area because the ground is so saturated from all the storms we have been having, making it very easy for strong winds and/or flooding to cause power lines to fall or trees to fall into them.

Is it just me or do all you people in florida and the east coast just seem so damn calm? I would be stressed out.

I'm not in a evacuation zone, although I can still be affected by the winds and rain, all I can do is be prepared, hope for the best and let nature take its course. Stressing out about it isn't going to change anything. However, if I lived on the coast that was going to be hit directly...I'd be really freaked out. It would be terrible to lose everything you have worked for in a matter of minutes or even worse your life or your loved ones.
