Smoking update:
Day 8 smoke free. With minor exceptions physical withdrawals are just about over. Still in a foul, depressed mood, but not as bad as it has been. Have'nt put on any weight despite being told by all sources that quitting ads 10-15 lbs to almost everyone. Eating clean most of the time and cranked up the cardio to twice a day just to work off some of the restlessness during the past week. Also started back on a fairly intense workout schedule (at least as compared to the last 3-4 months). Cutting back on the cardio now as this excess energy has pretty much disappeared. Food taste's pretty much the same but my sense of smell is way improved. That's both good and bad I guess. Vehicle and clothes definitely smell better and I notice now that you smokers smell like shit when you get to close. I f anyone is contemplating stopping just know that it can be done. If i can do it, anyone can do it. Although I did'nt take any Zyban i would suggest having on hand prior to stopping. Mostly the cravings are about gone but still a few times a day they come roaring back. Mostly after meals and after a call. My family pretty much wishes they had left town for the past few days. Can't say as I blame them. I really did'nt want to be around me either.

Nicotine is probably the best appetite suppressant on the market. Many (including myself) bodybuilders use nicotine on cutting cycles to reduce cravings for foods. Thats why many people say quitting smoking adds weight, which is can.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Great job. When I quit 12 years ago I had a method for making myself stronger in the face of wanting to start. I vizualized millions of people in a wide open area knowing this represented those who had the will to quit before me. It was now a competition and for the minutes I needed help it worked.
Stay busy and yes people who smoke stink. My mom thinks she is so discrete and I feel embarassed for her. Good Luck again. |

comsquat- I have a mother-in-law that smokes and she thinks she doesn't ever smell... the worst is opening up gifts from her... the odor that comes out when you open the box is unbelievable... lol |
