I think my heads been messed up since I found out I'm going to be a dad.

Well I guess that was probably the longest title ever made, but I wanted to be specific on what people will be getting into.

Anyways, since I found out 2 weeks ago tomorrow that I'm going to be a dad, my mind hasn't been right. I have been forgeting all sorts of stuff that I usually wouldn't. I even forgot about my first Human Anatomy test. I loose focus alot quicker. Loss of train of thought. I just seem clouded. I thought maybe it was stress, but it dosn't feel like my normal stress. (I'm a very low stress person normaly if that makes any difference.) I have been missing the gym ALOT since this semester started about 4 weeks ago (20 Hours this semester). Anyone have any constructive thoughts? and maybe some unconstructive if I like you.

I remember when my ex and I had our first child. I was constantly preoccupied with the thoughts of becoming a Dad and what awesome responsibilities that went along with being one. After he was born, I was very depressed, not because of my son, but because I knew i had brought him into the world, and it was going to be hard to do the right things by him. Women get what's known as post partum depression, which is probably a hormonal thing. I was anxious about learning to be a good parent and making sure he got what he deserved in life. What your feeling, I think, is probably along similar lines. You too know what is coming, and how hard it is to do the right thing. Your life will change for the better after the initial shock wears off and you and your lady have had time to adjust. Be patient and try not to think so much, it'll all work out believe me. You just have to learn how to be a Dad, and I know you'll do well. Good luck Daddy!! BB

Oh I know that bro. I would love them greatly. Im just saying that it is a TON of work and at this point in my life I still want to concentrate on bettering myself instead of having to put all my efforts into a baby.

I just mean that what your going threw is VERY tough and everything is comming second, the gym, school, everything is comming second to the baby. And what I meant was, I dont want my life to come second at this point in my life. I hope that makes sence, I have a hard time with this stuff.

You may be going through what I call the "initial shock sydrom". You have had some very big news brought to your attention and the shock hasn't warn off yet. Or I would say it is the excitement of the situation that has you thinking differently. Something big, VERY BIG is gonna take place and different receptors in the mind are starting to fire up and clouding your train of thought. You know like.....when people start planning a wedding! It is a big life altering event and you start to wonder..."do I have everything in order"..."am I ready for this" You are now looking at the "big picture" not just the moment that is before you! Does that make sense?

Thanks, for your help everyone. It was just a different type of stress I had never expierenced before, I think and I wasn't able to put my finger on the problem. Knowing that it's normal and something you may not understand until it happens is a comfort.

I also think it could be from thinking about it too much. I remember when me and my girl thought we were going to have a kid, I forgot about everything, because of the fact that the onlything on my mind was having a child and being a father. Good luck bro you will find your way of handling this you will see.

I agree with all of you guys.having a baby is such an exciting event it is just normal to have your emotions shot the shit.
I don't know if anybody else went through this but firs a few weeks of my wife's pregnancy I was actually having morning sickneses.I am not kidding they call it the sympathy sicknes.it was the weirdest thing,if I ate anything for breakfast in the morning with in five minutes I was in the bathroom and throwing up.so I can see how you can be forgetfull.but don't worry bro things will be just fine you'll see.

I also have 2 daughters. Your life is about to change in so many ways that you cannot (just yet) begin to comprehend. When your baby is born don't forget to ask the doc for the direction book on this dad thing. I agree with house1. VERY trying but still would not change a thing. Congratulations, you should have plenty of support here.
