CORROSION OF CONFORMITY: Three People Detained In Connection With Concert Stabbing - June 24, 2005 The Tampa Tribune has issued the following report: Four people were stabbed — one of them fatally — during a brawl Thursday night (June 23) inside The Masquerade, a night club on Seventh Avenue [where CORROSION OF CONFORMITY and CROWBAR were performing], police said. Tampa Police spokesman Joe Durkin said a "shoving match" started between two women on the club's dance floor just before 11:30 p.m. The tussle escalated when others tried to break the women apart. That's when a bald man with a knife began stabbing patrons, Durkin said. Then people fled the club, Durkin said, the suspect included. Of the surviving victims, one was in critical condition at the hospital this morning, one was in fair condition and one was treated for minor injuries and released, according to police. Durkin would not release the name of the deceased until next of kin is notified. Police detained at least three people and hauled them from the club in handcuffs this morning, but Durkin said police were still looking for the suspect. He's described as white, about 28 to 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall, 150 pounds, with tattoos.

The man that died of multiple stab wounds suffered during a brawl at CORROSION OF CONFORMITY's concert in Ybor City, Florida Thursday night (June 23) has been identified as Thomas Laskas, 30, of 1424 E. Idlewild Ave. in Tampa His wife, Wendy, is in critical but stable condition at Tampa General Hospital, according to the St. Petersburg Times. Also injured were Nicholas H. Stegall, 20, of 5409 Nottingham Ct., who was treated and released, and Dallas T. Ashe, 29, who was treated at the scene and released.
Police are looking for a single man who they say attacked all four victims around 11:30 p.m. Thursday at The Masquerade nightclub, 1503 E 7th Ave. The fight in the "mosh pit" in front of the stage began with two women, but quickly escalated, police said. Police are looking for a white man, 28-30 years old, 150 pounds, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, with a shaved head and reddish-brown goatee and mustache. He was last seen wearing a white tank top. The man "continued to wave the knife at people as he fled," police said. CORROSION OF CONFORMITY, who headlined the bill Thursday, issued a statement of condolence on their web site. "It's sad that people can't come together for a good time listening to music without something tragic happening."

I wish that the lawmakers would get their heads out of their asses and put some real deterrents out there: a 10-year minimum sentence for a crime involving a knife (I mean just for pulling a knife, or being caught with a concealed knife for that matter) would be a nice start. People are getting stabbed and dying, but these assholes are worried about baseball players using steroids. Give me a freakin' break.

Ask me this what fucking moron brings a knife to a concert unless your looking to stab someone.
First Dimebag Darrel and now this WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE  I mean whatever happen going to a concert and just listening to a band why the fucking violence sorry ass pieces of shit Well IMHO managers of these concerts need to bump up their security if that means using metal detectors then so be it sad but stuff like this needs to be stopped.
