omg...has anyone ever had ground chicken?

I went to our local Whole Food Market today and bought some hormone free ground chicken breast from the deli and made myself a chicken burger....all I can say is HOLY SHIT....that was incredible.....it was so fresh. I will never eat just a plain chicken breast again.

My mixer has a meat grinding attachment to it and I ground my own chicken a few times. Excellent for meatballs! I haven't seen it ground in stores here yet but I'll be happy when I find it.

Tonight I made 2 kinds of turkey burgers, one kind had some sessame teriake seasoning mixed in with egg whites, the others had chopped jallapeno peppers and chipotle mustard with egg whites. Both cooked in a non stick skillet on the stove. Both were fantastic!

I've been adding chopped jallapeno peppers and chipotle mustard to tuna or canned chicken lately too...very good! Stuff it in half a pepper and it's a convenient food to eat on the run.

Sounds awesome, puddles!! I just found that it was much moister when ground than in a whole breast form. I typically find it too dry that way.
They just opened a 3rd Whole Foods Market in New Orleans and this one is huge with an incredible meat dept. They have everything under the sun. I spend way too much money and time in this place. It's heaven.

Does it taste much different than ground turkey? I have had ground turkey many times, and it is great.

It's actually juicier than ground turkey. I typically like the taste of chicken over turkey anyway.

I like the texture of ground chicken better than turkey, plus the taste is a little lighter.

Great way to make ground chicken or turkey burgers is just a couple pounds of meat, a handfull of eggbeaters, chopped jalepeno's, and chipotle mustard. Brown on med/high heat covered, flipping over once in a skillet on the stove. Fantastic! Even when very lean, these come out moist.

Make your own, I have used a food procesor and made my own from chicken breasts to even using chicken thighs when the store has run them on special. I do not like store bought ground turkey, the texture is overprocessed. I have done the same with turkey breasts and it is much better!

Thats a great way to destroy a food processor plus it does a bad job at it. At least that way you can ensure good quality meat. Ive bought just about everything ground. Veal, Beef, Pork mixed together make excellent meatballs. Lamb and venison are good a bit "gamey".

My processor is ten years old and still does a fine job. By the way, I eat way more ground deer than beef, lots of deer in Alabama.

Cool Bounce....I know you will love it. I like the way you season and prepare food. Sounds like what I do. I just can't eat shit plain. You can totally spruce it up to add flavor but still keep it healthy.

BTW, did you get over to whole foods for your chicken?

It was damn good. Definitly better then ground turkey. I never did get over to whole foods. I got the chicken at Food Lion. Its a chain around here. Not sure if you have them. Just a basic grocery store.

I have heard of Food Lion. They are big in Florida. I'm surprised they had ground chicken. It's usually hard to find.

The ground chicken that I have found is only about 90% lean, a 4 oz. serving with 11g fat. Seems rather high. Are there leaner kinds?

Found it at Publix and it was surprisingly less expensive than their chicken cutlets which were on sale.
