Dress shirts for BB?
Ok, so this is my summer of weddings and I need to wear a collared shirt (and sometimes a tie)
My problem is that with an 18 1/2' neck and a 32/34' waist Ican't find any shirts that don't balloon arround my middle because they were made for a fat guy. Tucking in all that material and getting it to look normal is next to impssible, and there goes the V taper I've been working on for the past 12 years... How do you folk deal with this? Tailored shirts are pretty expensive, and I'm not rich.

I HEAR THAT BROTHER!!! I cant find a damn shirt to save my life, Big and tall just sucks ass, and anything I put that is long enough in the sleeves is huge in the middle and doesn't fit for shit and I end up having a bunch of material to tuck in and it looks sloppy. sometimes an XLT will do the trick but they are pretty tight in the back and stuff. If anyone knows of a designer or whatever that makes an athletic cut shirt please let us know, its so frustating to try to find stuff that fits. I wish I could start my own clothing line for guys like us, there has to be a good market for it because I know there are more and more guys that have an athletic build

I have a couple Geoffrey Beene shirts that are fitted. They are great. They don’t have a huge selection but I wear these to work and they taper at the bottom making it easy to tuck in.

It just sort of makes me pissed off that N Americans are so fat that any shirt that is at all big across the shoulders or through the arms is automatically for a 350 pounder...what the does that say about our society?

Look for trim or athletic cuts. I have purchased shirts from Land's End and they have trim cuts - they have exceptional customer service and you should be able to call them and get information you need.

That's always been a problem. I actually quit trying to add any size to my arms yrs ago because I had several high dollar Italian suits and my arms wouldn't go down the sleeves any more. As for shirts I used to buy seconds, over runs, factory rejects cheap from a place in Chicago (now out of business). Now there are all kinds of websites where you can buy that type of shirt pretty cheap, then take them to a local seamstress and have them tapered. In the end you will not have spent more than you're spending now for a dress shirt that doesn't fit.

I suppose I should just suck it up and buy a cheaper shirt and have it altered at least it would look good and not have all the extra damn material, thanks guys

I'm a teacher too, and you know what, it's the same where I am. It's to the point where students comment on my fitness and ask my why I'm in shape. how sad is that...

I was in for a PE teacher in April and he had a 7-11 walk scheduled. Kids walk to 7-11 and Pizza hut at this little mini-mall and buy crap for PE. I actually saw a kid puke he had eaten so much crap. I laughed at him and told him that his body was rejecting the garbage he was putting in it. fucking rediculous...

Hey Buddy, In case you don't recognize the nickname, its "BC". I taught PE for a semester and it was the same thing, kids were pissed that we didn't stop at the corner store on our 'family walks'. Also, why do we have vending machines filled with all sorts of junk food? There's already a cafeteria, and kids shouldn't be eating during classtime anyway! Didn't Socrates say a 'sound mind in a sound body'?

I got hubby some custom made shirts years ago and while they were expensive, they fit him perfectly and lasted him quite a while. But if you plan on growing much, then they won't fit you for long. I'd look for an athletic cut dress shirt and then take it to your local tailor and they will be able to make it look suitable with a few tucks and that should not cost much.

I've tried the Bachrach shirts and several other companies athletic cuts, but I finally just gave in and have everything custom-made now. Custom tailored shirts run me about $150-$250 depending on the material, but at least they fit!
