Are closing date for our new house was supposed to be late Aug early Sept. Just found out they are running a little behind and now it wont be until Oct. This sucks.

Did you really expect to close on time? Builders NEVER do. It is a fact. And then, when things are close to being done you're gonna start finding obvious mistakes that they are blind to. I think we had a list of over 100 things we wanted done propperly about a week before we closed. And then the first night here we had a flood in the downstairs commode because there was sand in the pipe leading to the sewer and when I emptied the garden tub upstairs everything backed up below.

If you have a hard ass general contractor, they get pretty damned close. My wife's brother is one of those contractors and I have seen what he does when people don't do their part. He gives them the boot and gets someone else in there. People know he means business.

Yep....they will hand you the keys and say it's all yours and you will look around and think....."You have got to be kidding!" The "punch work" will continue for a week or two even after you are moving in. Paint touchups, fixing moldings, corners of walls will be screwed up because of shit being taken in and out. Electrical outlets will be crooked or upside down.

Bouncer....look that place over with a magnifying glass.

If you get persistant they will close on time. When I closed on my place they said it was gonna be a month more than they said. The reason it was behind is cause the papers were sitting on someone's desk. If you call everyone involved, or in your case visit everyone involved, you'll close by the end of this month. I just made a few calls and we closed the week after we were supposed to.

Sometimes, but not all of the time. Depending on the contractor and how many other houses he has being built at the same time, he more than likely has several other people bitching at him about closings.

i will do that bro. we have been walking threw the unfinished house. i have already noticed that the kitchen sliding glass door is all fucked up. it dosent open right.

So glad that I am not your contractor! My uncle went through his walk through about a year ago and his contractor refused to finish his punch list. He refused to give him the final payout so they went to court. All the contractor had to do was finish the punch list.
