Pulled something in the gym Tues night

I have been working my way back up on squats the last couple of months and I pulled something Tues night. I have never pulled a muscle, so this is an odd experience for me. After doing 405 for a few reps, I felt what to me was a cramp in the left side of my quad on my left leg. I stretched it out a little and rubbed on the sore spot and it felt fine. I put 435 on and went down and when I came up, something hurt like hell in my left leg. I dropped the weight and got up. I can put some weight on it today and am back to walking decent, so it is getting better. Anyone have any idea what I did? It feels like a big charlie horse on the left outside part of my quad on my left leg right in the middle. It hasn't ever turned black and blue, a buddy said that's good. Any advice?

Knox

Not much to do other than ibuprofen and ice. No telling why you pulled it. Those are sometimes things that just happen with the tiniest change for that day. One thing you don't do is stretch it. If it's pulled then obviously stretching it is further injuring it. Give it a few days to heal, then maybe stretch it. If it's not sore after stretching it, then you can continue to stretch from then on.

RICE
rest ice compression elevation
rest is obvious, ice is obvious 15 on 15 off, wrap it to keep the swelling fluid build up and to keep area warm when moving around(wear spandex its so gay sounding but works) elevate the affected area above the heart to get the fluid out the way, DONT heat... Heat is only used after 48hrs after injury, before hand will increase blood flow too much and cause lots more probs u wanna get fluid out first, trust me any pull has fluid even though u might not see it
