Sony makes a really good camera. I have a 7.2 MP from them and I love it.

Kodak's higher end cameras are really good, like the 7590... just fabulous. Also look for their new P850, really really good with a 12X optical image stabilized zoom and under $500. Make sure you get the ones with the Schneider Kreuznach lens. They are the ones that are excellent.

I have a Kodak DX7440 with a Schneider lens and I love it. What I like about Kodak is their proprietary CCD technology and their vivid color - imho they have better color processing chips than any other manufacturer.

Ok, I could go on.. and on.. about camera's till I bore the hell out of everyone. And I really don't feel like typing that much. But before you buy any camera and when researching them, goto www.dpreview.com to find out evertting you need to know. They do a very thorough review on most of the popular brands and models. They also have forums for each brand camera. So you upi can read the feedback from other owners.
