And I get there and there's some guy on the patio outside of the restaurant with his kid trying to calm her down. The kid is screaming and throwing a fit and the dad is calmly telling her to calm down and be good. He then says something to her and she starts acting up again. This goes on for the whole time I am there. On and off this kid is screaming and yelling. Everyone hitting golf balls is getting annoyed. One guy walks by me and says "it's great when you have a kid screaming while you're trying to swing." I said yeah. So between shots I turn and I see the guy looking my way. I turn and start shaking my head. I also see everyone looking at this guy like wtf is wrong with you. I go to hit another shot and I hear "Hey buddy you got a problem?" In my head i'm thinking fuck you yeah I have a problem. I turn and look and say "excuse me? Yeah I have a problem. People are trying to concentrate here can you get your kid to shut up?" The guy then goes "Listen I have more problems than your golf problems."

Now I have a season pass to this place so I am there almost everyday and the people that work there know me. I have never caused problems ever, but this guys kid was annoying the shit out of everybody. It's really irritating when someone makes noise or talks during your swing. BBAdict knows what i'm talking about.

So we're yelling back and forth and he's telling me that i don't know what it's like that i don't have kids and all this other crap. I'm thinking ok who's fault is it that you have these problems? I tell him why don't you take her out to the parking lot or the car and be considerate of the people out here. So the guy then proceeds back in the restaurant and I go back to hitting balls. I turn around and I see this guy coming back out and walking around the fence over towards me. The attendant guy gets in front of him to stop him. He starts yelling to me saying I just want to tell this guy how he's wrong for saying something to me. I said "Sir (he was maybe 29) did I say anything to you? No. You started with me." He said "yeah I did" He then says well I don't see a ring on your finger, you don't know how it is. I'm like what does that have to do with this? Then he's like you're just a weekend warrior, blah blah blah. He didn't know a thing about me. I just stopped talking and the attendant said he would tell the restaurant people about the guy. I said thanks.

This guy had some issues. At one point he looked like he was going to lunge at me. Now would you lunge at someone that has a 3 iron in their hand? lol I doubt it. I mean if you can't hack it, don't start telling other people they don't know what it's like and shit. Leave it at home. And you shouldn't have gotten married.

That's my rant of the day.

I can't imagine hitting balls with a kid screaming--I'd ask for my money back. There's no way you could work on your game with that going on. People gotta realize that theres sacrifices you make when you have kids and maybe one of those is not being able to go sit on the patio with the kids.

Maybe part of the problem was that you were frustrated at your 3iron! I hate anything longer than a 4iron. I've given up my 3-iron and 5-wood for a Hogan hybrid club this season that I absolutely love--can't miss with it out of the rough or off the fairway. Have you tried those yet?

I think you made one mistake. "Can you get your kid to shutup". Its one thing to tell someone else to shutup but when its there daughter its a different story. I problly would have beat the piss out of you.

I think it would have been better to say something like this, "listen man, we pay good money to be here and we cant concentrate with your daughter crying like that, would you mind taking her somewhere else to calm down". Then I would have said, "but as far as you comming up to me asking if I have a problem like a tough guy, ya i have a problem with that, now you better get the fuck out of my face before i rip your fucking head off you fucking pussy".

Damn it's a good thing you don't golf. I was actually hitting my 3 iron well.

Yeah it wasn't good to tell him to get his kid to shut up, but that was better than telling the kid directly like he said I did.

I agree with you. I had to quit using a 3,4, or 5 iron. I use the hybrid irons. Straight and long in the fairway!

I too get very frustrated and give people with unruly children a glare or two. I usually try to move away from them when possible. I don't have children/ don't have plans for them either and my husband and I both get irritated by screaming kids!

I have to agree with Bouncer on this one. I would have come unglued if someone had said something like that about my son. Why didn't someone from the club ask the man to take the child elsewhere or inside?

Other than the "kid" remark I believe you did nothing else wrong. I think I would have had to say something to the management about it first. If they were unable to do anything then I would have pulled one of the stuffed animals out of the trunk of the car and give it to the girl. That would really piss me off... but what can you really do? If you beat him sensless, you'll go to jail and scar his kid for life.

I actually almost got in a fight at the driving range when I was 19, I was all skinny and some loser in a beer shirt said I was golfing in his spot and I needed to move or else. it really escalaated until I just left.

Some people need a beating but unless you like Jail your kinda out of luck.

The kid just needed some dicipline. A good swat on the butt will take care of that 99% of the time. And yes, I do have a kid (and another due this week). Everyone always comments on how well behaved my son is. There is a good reason for that. I don't tolerate that kind of behavior....and he knows it.

I'm not sure how to word this so it dosn't sound to agrressive. So I am just going to spit it out and hope you get the idea.

I think that whole "time-out" phase that parents went through is diminishing. I heard about alot of parents that were like that growing up in school. Now I hear more people saying "if my kid did that he would get his ass whooped". I will be that dad. I think it teaches them who is in control/power and they learn respect.
