Alternatives to trick or treat(ing)?

With holloween apon us, I was thinking about what I am going to do with my son when he gets old enough. I didn't want to have him go out and get tons of candy and hopefully the way I raise him, he won't get too excited about it. But I still think he needs to expierence some kind of celebration to still be a "normal" kid. I was thinking maybe we could through him a costume holloween party and control the amount of sweets there. But I don't know how realistic that is for every year.

Gotta let a kid be a kid and have fun for that one day. As long as the parents live a healthy lifestyle that will be the norm for him. Have snacks around the house like trail mix and fruits and such instead of chips and cookies. Every kid is going to like that kinda stuff but however he is raised with is what he will like.

Ture, my fiancee is the same way with the fruits and stuff, because that's how it is in Poland.

just encourage a healthy active lifestyle by participating with your son...that's what my dad did. when we hung out it typically centered arround sports, hiking, etc. He never ate candy, so after a while i didn't either. I think having a parent that walks the talk really helps, as long as he's not such a dick you want to get fat to spite him

Why don't you look up healthy alternatives to Halloween candy, like granola or trail mix.
