anyone ride crotch rocket?

I just got a '04 gsxr 1000 and now after the new-nest is wearing off, I'm thinking it's too hot with all the protective gear, too uncomfortable to ride long distances, and with everyone telling me to "be careful" it kinda makes me rethink my mid-life crisis purchase. I work in the er as a r.n. and just about every weekend that I work some poor bastard has broke himself up and won't walk right and maybe even won't survive his stupid crash. Thinking of getting rid of it and sticking to the dirt riding. What 'cha think? Anyone else pussy out?

Motorcycle riding is something I did when I was younger. One day, I took stock of my life and decided that the ephemeral pleasure I derived from riding the bike was not worth what I would jeopardize if I got seriously hurt or worse - and it was a matter of when, not if, actually, based on so many close calls from car drivers who simply cannot seem to deal with a bike sharing the streets with them.

Get your thrills while you can, bro, but if you have serious relationships or people who depend on you, like kids, I would get out while I am ahead.

stud_wit_style is on a distinguished road
I own a 2005 Kawasaki ZX-10R. I bought it back in April 2005 and I have put on about 7,100 miles on it since. I absolutely love it. I took it to the local drag strip so see what I could do on it. Talk about being nervous!! But after that first run...well lets just say i raced approximately 125 times over the summer. My best time is 10.32 @ 140mph(ish). My launches sucked ass...otherwise I would have been in the mid to low 9's.

Ok i'll quit rambling . My point is...last summer is a summer i will never forget...period. I had so much fun ridin'...not to mention all the girls that love to ride . I was never in a wreck...came close a few times from idiots not paying attention. I think i was pretty lucky from all the riding and stupid shit we did(wheelies and street racing). For me now is the time to sell...while im still ahead. Plus im ready to buy a new truck (its more practical).

Good luck. And ride safe.

It's all about riding safely and smart. If you're unloading on the freeway, wheaving in and out of traffic or doing 100mph wheelie burns, then you're just asking for it. But there's nothing like a nice summer day and going cruising in your bike. I like hitting the twisties. Maybe you'll be happier with a smaller bike like a 600. Gixxer's have so much low end torque that sometimes it can make it a chore to ride. Gotta get a gel seat too. That is a nice bike though man.

I rode for a while. I miss it, but now with my son I really think about my choices. Missing him growing up or not being active in his life isn't worth it to me. I have thought about getting a dirt bike sometime later. With those you can have fun without going 90+. One thing though, is you CAN'T ride scared. There is a certain level of confidence(that relaxes you while you ride) you need to be able to pay attention to EVERYTHING.

I'm a huge gixxer rider myself, don't have one right now though. I've had 3 of them and love them. Although, the new gixxers(and '05) frames are cracking....Go to gixxer.com and check out all the bad rap for the frames....And also, check the sub-frame and wear your gear.

I haven't heard anything about that, but could be possible. They did shave some weight off to make it lighter. Some of it might have come from the frame, plus with the extra power it makes now too. I guess i'll find out after a few months or so.
