Selling Engagement ring
i want to sell my x wifes engagement ring and use some of the money on a new tattoo (she hated my tattoos, so i figure what better way to say F U) and use the rest to take my new lady on a vacation.
Pawn shop - will screw me retail jewelry shop - will pay better than a pawn but still screw me, and thats assuming they will actually buy it from me. ebay - maybe amazon - maybe i dont have any of the original paperwork on it... but i do have a faxed copy from my insurance company witha receipt on the purchase... it doesnt have the specifications on the diamond, but i can make a fairly educated guess on the statistics..... but i can prove to the buyer what I paid for it and they will see they are getting a decent deal on the ring. anyway, if anyone has any input it would be appreciated. is ariflux still around? he would be helpful in this situation.

Also you can get a simple aprraisal done at a jewlery shop for a 100 bucks or less to give you the specs and just have that along with the reciept.

i am gonna take some pics over my lunch break here in a little bit....
ill post them up in a bit... from what i hear im not going to make much back... sounds like i might be better just hanging onto the stone and make a necklace for my next GF or if i ever have a daughter... i have the receipt the stone was 1.00 CT Princesscut.... on the higher end of color middle of clarity and only one flaw, but its in the corner and hidden under the setting lose stone was $2,866 platnium stting was 270$ ill get some photos soon. You must be older than you look Rado. As long as youre paying your bills normally why not spend the money on yourself. Why not call the jewelry place. They probably have a record and if its worth it maybe the vacation could be heading north and get rid of the ring as part of the trip.

The difference between what you pay retail for a diamond and what you can get for it when you want to resell it wholesale (to a jewler) is substantial. Typically you can expect to get about 25% of the retail value for a stone at this size. As for the setting, you won't get much more than melt for it by a jewler. If you put it on Ebay you will likely get wholesale for it but you might get lucky and get a bit more. Princess cut stones are very pretty but they don't retain their value like a round cut would, they're a bit tougher to sell.
You might have better luck listing it for sale in your local paper. Of course, only take cash from a stranger, not a check.

I have the cert... picked it up last night
princess cut 1CT color I SI2 - but the flaw is in the corner and hidden by the setting Platnium cathederal band.... ill take some photos today... I boutght it from a diamond wholesaler in Washington DC..... so no chain in my current area i could take it to. Rado -- I dont have any bills.... only a few hundered in credit cards.. and a monthly cable and cell bill..... i want something tangable from this ring as a reminder of the stupid mistake i made marrying this girl. I also want to waste the money on something stupid so i can get a nice laugh about it... ie taking a nice vacation funded by her ring. Then i can send her photos of me having a great time all on her buck.... well not her $$ but you get what im saying...lol Quote:

Take it to Kays or put an ad in the paper. Kays will trade even if you didn't get it there. If you really want to get back at your ex...fuck one or all of her friends! Sending her a pic of you on vacation will only show her that she really hurt you.

her friends are skanks.... lol and all in VA.
i dont see how taking a vacation will show how it hurt me.... she knew she hurt me at first.. but she also knows now that im completely happy about it... infact at the gym the other day i walked in and was in a great mood , said hello to her ... and her response was...."WTF, why are you in such a great mood now... you were never this happy before"... i just gave a big smirk, like you figure it out. I think it would piss her off if i sell her ring and use the money for some fun... 1. she hated my tattoos, so that is one reason i want another.... 2. going on vacation with her ring money.. especially if I take another chick will get on her nervs.... especially because she is now strapped for cash. Just keep doing what makes you happy. That seems to get to her the most. Geting a tattoo sounds like the best idea. If you go on vacation and have to show something to her about it... It sounds like you are trying too hard and it does come off as being hurt by her still.

lol....
well like i said her friends are in VA.. plus i know they wouldnt go there.... but I am hooking up with a cute little girl from my gym that the wife never liked because she was jealous of her... so that is just as good in my book. I am still trying to come up with some tattoo ideas... I have a large japaneese piece i want to add to but i have not really decided what... a buddha... dragon... who knows...still researching. lxorl - I was saddened by your loss as you seemed pretty upset about it at first. However, being vindicitive is not the best of character traits. Just live your life for you and don't worry about how your happiness will make her feel etc. Karma will tell you that wishing her to feel pain, anger, guilt or jealousy etc will only come back to you...
