Question Wrist Straps

Who uses them and what brand or where from?

I need to get myself a set....I never use Wrist Straps/Weight Belts when I lift...But yesterday I was doing DL's and when I get to 315lbs for 10 reps, I'm fine....I put 365lbs for 10 reps, on the 9th rep I loose somewhat of a grip...I put 405lbs and I can only rep it for 4 maybe 5 reps and I loose the grip...So I decided to borrow a trainers strap which I thought would be great.

Well needless to say, it was worst. I couldn't even grip the bar perfectly and fucked up my whole routine...Any suggestions?

thx.

It does take some practice to get use to the straps. I love them and always use them. Wheather just to help hold the metal or to actual support my grip. There shouldn't be any double layer of starp.

I use leather straps from Sports Authority. I have the same problem- anything over 405 escapes my grip. I think the leather ones are most comfortable and durable.

I just got a pair of the lifting hooks from prowriststraps.com, they work great for DL's. I just like them because you dont have to wrap anything, you just hook them to the bar.

I use...I think normal ones from Sports Authority, not real fancy or anything. It does take a bit of practice to learn to wrap it with one hand, and where to wrap the rest of the flap so it doesn't get in your way, but all things considered, I think they're an absolute must when working with really heavy weight, or even on back day, or else the strength of your grip will limit your pulling weight. That notwithstanding, I try to go as far (well, as heavy) as I can without them

I've never used the hooks, but I don't like the idea of not being able to drop it if needed.

I think it is funny when you see all the newbie's in the gym that strap in before they bench or when doing curls. Never understood that one....

I strap in on bench for saftey. I use an open grip when benching and it helps lock the bar to my hands. With other stuff I just wrap it, but not tight to protect the skin on my hands.

Which version did you get? I've been thinking about these for a while, as my hands and wrists are tiny and weak...

i love the guys who wear them around, even if they're filling their water bottles and walking on a treadmill, as though it's part of their uniform...
