computer question

You know how when you start to type a word into a search box, that list of previous words searched for drops down? How do I get rid of that? e.g. when I go to Google and start to type something the box drops down with all the previous search topics that start with the letter I typed.

in IE, go to the Tools menu, select "internet options," click on "clear history." When you're done, click on "delete files" in the "temporary internet files" box, select "delete all offline content," and when it's done, restart.

this should actually help your pages load a little faster, since a whole lot of pages you've viewed aren't sitting around clogging up your memory

its actually a function that you have turned on that can be turned off. what go Yankees is talking about wont work for your problem.

I believe the function you have turned on is called "auto fill" or something of that nature. do a search on google about how to turn it off.

I already did that. The box I'm talking about is the one that drops down when you type something in a text box within a webpage, not in the address bar.

Nevermind, I just read Bouncer's reply.

Bouncer to the rescue, lol.

Turn Off AutoComplete

SUMMARY: Tired of IE6's Auto Complete mode where it tries to finish typing in web addresses and passwords for you?

Normally, IE6 attempts to automatically type in web addresses after you begin typing in a few characters. Depending on your setup, IE6 may also try to automatically complete forms and passwords for you as well. While this may seem useful at times, in other instances this automatic completion can be downright annoying.

To turn this feature off, click the "Tools" menu and select "Internet Options". From the multi-tabbed dialog box that follows, select the "Content" tab. Click the "AutoComplete" button. An "AutoComplete Settings" dialog box appears. Now, check or uncheck the options you would like. For example, to stop IE6 from automatically entering in web addresses, uncheck the "Web addresses" checkbox.

Press "OK" to close this dialog box, then "OK" to close the "Internet Options" dialog box.

OK, I found it. Internet Options, Content tab, Autocomplete button, uncheck "Forms" box. Thanks Bouncer, I didn't know it was called autofill.
