Question I'd like to know....

How is that my GPS is able to read "Digitized Roads" and some are not...Certain streets I drive into will show up on my navigation system as "Not a digitized road"...How does it read this?

Is there a chip in the markers that sends the signal back to a satelite? The lights? Anyone know this answer?

Who here has navigation on their vehicles?

I don't always use it unless I have to go looking for someone...It's always on and running, but I really don't use it. Certain streets when I drive into, it will go from telling me what road I'm on "Not a digitized road"....Just wondering how the GPS navigations systems work, that's all.

Is it the markers on the road, the lights? How does it send the signal? I mean it shows, lakes, bridges, alleys, etc...Pretty cool actually...I can zoom in to where I see all of the gas stations, restaurants, Walgreens, schools, etc....Or I can zoom out and see the entire USA map.

I do use my wireless internet/Blue tooth/voice recognition system...Now that's a nice piece of tech right there...I am having 2 tv's installed in the rear...I was going to have a PS3(when they come out) installed, but I'd rather have the tv's...

Just like Rocket said,I don't know what digitized road means, but if you are wondering how your car knows where you are at,it's because your car has a setallite receiver built in to it. If you notice some where in your car you have a dvd player and in it you have the map of USA on a dvd so it just simply places your car on the map through setallite receiver. I have a palm pilot with a built in Tom Tom gps it is mind blowing I can put it in my pocket or in my car and go any where I want it is just like a car gps and the usa map is on a memory stick just like the ones in the didgtal cameras.
And when it comes to tvs once you install them it should be a snap to instal your psp3 also. All you need is a power converter or adapter which you can buy from frys for about 10 bucks and your tv receiver should have seperate AV inputs on the front or the back so you can just plug it in like your home tv.
Simple is that. :nerdnew:

It is a CD that is programmed into your GPS unit during manufacturing. The street you turned on is probably a new road that wasnt available to map when the CD was created. You should get a new one from dealership once a year (at least with my Armada that is how it is done)

I think it just needs the internal wires moved around a bit. Find a high cliff and drive your SUV off it. That should rattle it loose.

I wonder if the cliff will be on his navigation system.
