My problem is it doesn't matter what the game is - they take over my life - I will play until 5 in the morning even if I end up getting NO sleep and after about a month of letting the stupid thing consume my life I walk away for months on end - balance and video games don't belong in the same sentence in my life...

He said to himself, "duhhh PS3, that must be cool, duhhhh".

I'm the same way. I can obsess over a game then get to the point where I don't really care anymore and don't play it for months. I used to play Halo every night when I came home from saying goodnight to my wife before we were married, now I don't even care to unpack my Xbox from the box I put it in to move. It's literally sitting in the entertainment center in a box.

Just wait till resident evil 5, metal gear solid 5, tekken 6 and final fantasy xiii hit the ps3. All 360 will have is first person shooters and once again, the playstation will own the market. HD-dvd is dying already. Blu-ray will be standard format not before long. Might as well get the cheapest blu-ray player out there, the ps3.

Blu Ray is sketchy because it's Sony and they haven't had a great track record lately. HD on Demand will be huge, people like to own something and watch it at their liesure. HD on Demand requires you to purchase the movie and if you record it it will be in standard def. So although HDOD will be huge and extremely popular...disks will never disappear.

Why will it be in standard def. if you record it? You can record HD TV shows in HD if you have an HD receiver - what's the difference?

Currently when you record HD programs onto your HDDVR they are not recorded in hi def, they become standard format I believe its due to the data compression.

Actually now that I look into it more. It depends on the provider and the equipment they use. At one point it was difficult because of the space that true HD format takes up, but that's obviously not the case anymore.

So basically, that was a useless point...lol...but w/that said, you will still have to have a HUGE amount of storage space in order to store all the movies to create a library of videos. Unless you transfered your files to disk and that is where your average person finally says 'forget it.'

I knew I wasn't crazy. I have an HD receiver and it definitely records in HD - but does take up a lot more "hours" than a standard show...

welcome to 2002. lol.

most major cable companies have offered HD DVR's for 3-4 years now. they take up a little more space then stadard def but not as much as you may think. I have about 10 hours worth of hd prgramming recorded right now and my DVR is only 20% full.

Also, On Demand is here, not something that "will be huge". We have had HD on Demand on Comcast for 2 years. You cannot record On demand content.

lol....smart ass..

I realize there have been HD DVR's for a few years, but they have not always been able to record in true hd resolution (regardless of what the providers may have stated). Hell just last year I went thorugh Verizons FiOS A/V training and they still had HDDVR's that werent true HD when rebroadcasted. The new Motorola 6416 STB's have solved that issue though.

i have recorded true HD content for 2 years now bro. you know i am not the kind of guy that says, "it must be HD because the installer said so." Comcast of NJ has had true HD DVR's that record HD content for over 2 years. I cant speak for the rest of the hillbillie states though. i am surprised you southern fucks even know what a tv is.
