Hostel 2
Anyone see this? I'm not sure that it was any better or worse than the first one - probably about the same. It was more a "behind the scenes" look at the operation and what went on. I think I like it because the idea itself is neat - not because I think I want to torture/kill someone - but because I believe that money can buy most anything.

The thing about hostel that gets me is that there have been so many sick and nasty movies that really go way more in depth than hostel does, but they don't become popular for some reason. I'm not into those kinds of movies cause it disturbs me, but I wonder why all of a sudden these torture and gore movies are gaining so much backing.

Because they're always trying to get to the next level of horror. We have become desensitized to so much, that it takes a lot more to be "shocking" or "gory" - look at the older horror movies - they don't even include blood. But somewhere along the way we expect more and more and more to "scare" us.... |

Here's a little site that lists some really nasty movies that have been made. Problem is, these movies just aren't scary.

I think the idea of "scary" here is to get to you. It's not horror/monsters/ghosts, it's more disturbing/sick stuff that can (and probably does) really exist. Thanks for the site - I'll take a look... |

I think the new type of horror movies is because people live in fear of the reality. With all the Terrorist, pedifiles and serial killers that seem to be coming out of the woodworks these days, why not use that to make a scary movie. I think with science and everything supernatural being done, people don't like stuff that seems too unrealistic.
