White Rhino Extinct
Looks like the White Rhino will soon be extinct. Very sad. The species could have been saved but now it's gone.

I thought the black rhino was even more endangered but it very sad either way, the people are clearly very poor also to resort to that

I interpreted it as it's just the last two in Zambia. That there are more in South Africa.

I think they actually meant in Zambia only, because I was in San Diego wild animal park last month and they have them there I saw them in person. :nerdnew:
Here is a link. http://www.sandiegozoo.org/animalbyt...hinoceros.html And if any of you guys happen to go there you must check out the new lion exhibit it is awesome there is nothing but an a few inches of glass between you and the lions and I am telling you, you haven't feel fear until you look at a lions eyes they just stare at you without blinking and you know if it happen to come out of that cage you are his or her next meal. :bbq:

Poachers should be shot on sight as far as I'm concerned. I do also think that we spend a little too much time trying to save some animals. Part of evolution is the extinction of some species and the creation of new ones.

The real problem is the demand for rhino horn in places in the Far East where it is considered an aphrodisiac. Why a country like China with more than 1 billion people (and clearly no infertility problem) would need aphrodisiacs is beyond me. We need to educate people there and if demand falls, the poachers will vanish.

Good point, my experience with poachers is locally so the feelings are a bit different. Mainly regarding Abalone.
Pretty tough to change something like the fact that the Chinese feel white Rhino tusks are an aphrodisiac though |
