Flags of our Fathers..
Just watched this today. Pretty good movie. Crazy how certain things we think we know about history are not always the case. Definitely came as a surprise to me to learn about the men that were in that famous flag raising picture.
Check it out if you haven't already. Going to watch Letters from Iwo Jima as soon as it becomes available from Comcast OnDemand HD.

I enjoyed the perspective and the history behind it, but the movie really draaaaaagged on. I'm a military/war movie freak, but this was definitely one of my least favorites. The acting kind of sucked too.

I would consider myself a military history/'war movie' buff. I thought it was a great movie, one of the very best if you ask me. I think it accurately portrays the importance of the media in relations between US Citizens and our troops. Although I've always believed that the media plays an enormous role in US military law and all aspects of our life. Okay, as to try and stay on topic, I think the point of the book was well conveyed by the movie and that Clint Eastwood made it very well.
If you liked Flags of Our Fathers you will like Letters from Iwo Jima as well. I think he did an amazing job of leaving the 'victor' mentality behind and giving you the true Japanese perspective of the war. I really enjoyed this movie and highly recommend it.
