A comment I'm not use to hearing(somewhat racial IMO)

"Colored Children"

I overheard somebody saying this in the elevator today :hmmm: I knew what they meant. Now what I'm use to saying or hearing is; Bi-racial children. It struck a nerve because the conversation was about children.

Being that Ohio's residents is virtually 90% white, I can see why they would say it that way. I feel that individuals around here are more narrow-mindedness than anything. Ohio doesn't even have a 1% Hispanic population. Someone asked my GF the other day; "So what part of Mexico is your BF from" :laughnew:

So when I talked to my GF's parents about this, well a good number of Ohio people presuppose you are a Mexican if you have an appearance of Hispanic heritage

Come down here to South Carolina where I am. You'll hear much worse than that, and its in every day conversation. It just amazes me how routine it comes for people to be racist. It goes both ways down here though, there are just as many racist black people as racist white people. Sad really.

Wait a second- you may be misinterpreting this. My 92 yr old grand mother refers to African American people as "that colored neighbor boy", or what have you. It may not necessarily mean what you think it does. The older generations just spoke that way when they were growing up in the 20's & 30's. It's not necessarily derogatory, just not totally PC

ya, i trained with my colored friend today. then i went to the store and a colored boy packed my grocery's. as i got home a nice colored family invited me over for dinner. they were having KFC. I was a nice guest, I brought a watermelon because I know those coloreds like that. After dinner we all sat down on the sofa and watched BET.

They wont change their ways. And I agree, "colored" is old school and pretty inappropriate but we are politically correct as fuck nowadays and I wish everyone would chill out with that a little bit. I agree. Political correctness makes me sick. If you're making a distinction between people based on the color of their skin, isn't that still racist? Does it really matter if "African American" instead of "colored"? Don't get me wrong, like grinder said, "colored" is inappropriate, but at the end of the day, you're still distinguishing based on skin color. Be proud of your heritage, yes, but for fuck sake, you live in the USA. No one is African American, they're just plain fucking American, just like everyone else. There is no United States of Africa America.

Colored is a common term used by older people.During segragation the restrooms were marked white and colored,water fountains,drs office waiting rooms.Interracial children,well wht and blk ones are called pinto beans.Like grinder im from SC and yeah lots of racistss.
