Positive thinking, focus, obsession...

I don't think this is talked about enough. We talk about diet, training, AAS etc.. but we never talk about the mental aspect. This applies to any goal or quest.

I think this is the single biggest factor in Arnold's success. His pure focus and determination has allowed him to knock down all road blocks in front of him.

I think what our parents used to tell us, (as corny as it sounds) has much value. "You can do anything you set your mind to do." Arnold embraced this way of thinking and applied it to everything in his life.

Just something I had on my mind and figured I would post it.

You're right- we don't.

I was actually having similar thoughts about my diet this week. "Why am I doing this?" "This is not fun, and I want a social life"....

I really thought about just saying F it....the final goal sometimes seems so far off. There's no real instant gratification.

Too many times when I've focussed too much on agression when I was younger thinking that was all you had to get you through a workout.

Nowdays I train (albeit ashamedly more randomly) with a much happier outlook. Although like everyone I've worked hard to gain some muscle I feel appreciative that I have a body that can do what it does (with a little creek here and there) and you should always think positive.

I find that aggression works the best for me. Thinking positively and focusing on the benefits just isn't enough sometimes. Aggression keeps me explosive during the workout. Keeps my determination up and makes me go that extra mile that I wouldn't normally.

I'm climbing that hill at 27. I'd say it is positive aggression. It's like destructive behavior. Just that i've been training for years and in the beginning it started out as the goal that kept me going. For years I could just show up to the gym after work, do my thing hardcore and go home. No problems. Seems now after about a decade of the same ole thing, I need something more to get me motivated.
