Apple iPod
After looking at responses to my MP3 thread, I decided I want to buy an iPod mp3 player. It will be a birthday present for my guy. He's overseas and is really into music so I think it'd be a great gift. But I don't have much cash, and they run from $299 - $499 (found some good prices on Buy.com, btw). The smallest size is 10g, then its 15g, then 30g. Got a few questions for you all who know about this stuff.
If I buy a 10g, could i buy some sort of memory or whatever to upgrade to 15g later on? Do I really need 30g? What's a good amount? Is 10 or 15g way more than most need, or is 30g a minimum for a music lover? Thanks to everyone in advance for helping me out with this!

Think about it this way. I had a 12g hard drive on my comp until recently. I had hundredes of songs, programs and lots of Porn
 Video files take up alot to and my drive wasn't maxed out, but it was close.

If you condsider the average song is between say 2,5MB and sometimes 7MB, I would say that 10GB is adequate. Surely you would only upload what you are listening to anyway and "store" your music elsewhere for backup?
The 10GB card will hold over 2500 songs.. Here is a link http://www.apple.com/ipod/specs.html

Oh by the way, here are the system requirements:
System Requirements: iPod for Mac requires a Macintosh with built-in FireWire and Mac OS X v10.1.5 or later (Mac OS X v10.2 or later recommended). iPod for Windows requires a PC with built-in or Windows-certified FireWire or USB 2.0* card; and Windows Me, Windows 2000, or Windows XP Home or Professional. If you read closely it says that it doesn't actually hold that many songs...not sure how many less. ("before formatting") 2500 sounds like a lot but it isnt really... say you have 25 cds, 10 songs each, youve already hit the limit.

lol......errr 25 x 10 = 250, 250 cd's and you will hit the limit. ;0)
Anyway, you must decide what will suit you best. Just to give you an idea, if the average track is 5MB, you can store +/- 2000 songs, if you want to store more then definitely go for the bigger drives. Good Luck
