Did you throw your frozen pizzas out yet?

Never in my life have I ever eaten a frozen food meal; gross...Not even as a child did my parents feed me that garbage.

By now, you’ve probably heard that 5 million frozen pizzas, most sold under General Mills’ Totino’s and Jeno’s labels, have been recalled because of an e. coli contamination problem in pepperoni that was produced by an outside contractor. If you haven’t heard, you can read the Tribune story.

As of this writing, the 21 lab-confirmed cases have affected people here in Illinois, and in Missouri, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Virginia, South Dakota and Wisconsin. At least 10 people have been hospitalized.

Not to toot my own horn (much), but in Good Eating’s cover story this week, "Takeout, Take That!," I included instructions on how to make a pretty darned good pizza at home. For the time being, though, it might be a good idea to skip the pepperoni and substitute ham, sausage (or just vegetables) instead

we had a bunch of the tostinos pizzas we had to throw away. they are actually good for a quick snack for the kids...

favorite pizza of all time is Roseangela's Pizza in Evergreen Park, IL - it's super thin crust and the crust is still stiff and they use provalone cheese on it! now that I live in cleveland, no one here has any idea what good pizza is. we ONLY have the chains, pizza hut, donimos, marcos, donatos, oven fresh pizza co., geppettos, Papa Johns, East of Chicago, Pizza Pan, OMG anyone want to open something here NOT chain? PLEEAAASSSEEE!!!

ya that sucks about the tostinos. you brought up a good point to. a big consumer of these foods is kids. these companies need to take better care of what the hell is in their product.

as far as the chains. hell you can take one of the mom and pop pizza places from jersey if you want. lol. 2 miles from my house, you will find about 40 family owned pizza shops. lol
