Unhappy My new piano piece

This is the piece I am learning now - the 1st movement of Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata No. 14.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6txOvK-mAk

One of my favorite pieces - so beautiful and sad. I could listen to it all day. Kempff makes it sound so smooth... I have the notes down for the most part but I'll be happy if I can make it sound half as smooth as his. Oh well, something to work on during the Thanksgiving break!

A lack of talent is such a terrible thing...

That is a pretty tough piece.
The way they show the guy playing the Sonata is kind of distracting...it is just weird how they mostly show his face, not his hands. I don't want to say that the guy creeps me out, cause often when I play the piano I don't look at the keys either, but it almost looks like he is doing anything else other than playing.

Magdalena, Kempff is one of the all time piano greats. He's known as an expert on Beethoven and he's probably played the piece a thousand times - it is pretty cool how he closes his eyes and feels the emotion of the music. I try to do that sometimes too but end up hitting the wrong keys.... lol..... His left hand is so perfect - never overpowering the right...I tend to be too loud with my left hand. Gotta practice, practice, practice...

It is definitely the most challenging piece I have attempted to learn. The notes are ok - it is the emotion that is so hard to capture. And I kinda like the way they show his face too, just to see him feeling the emotion of the piece is cool. This is a piece with death as the theme - there is a moment at 3:54 in the piece where the melody goes from E to Dnatural instead of D# and Kempff just closes his eyes and let's the melody flow. It's magic and unforgettable - almost like he is coming face to face with his own mortality at that moment.

And yes B, I'll be getting right back to you on the lessons
