Laptop power plug fits loosely into computer
Obviously my power cable fits loosely where it connects to the computer. Is this something I can easily fix? The cable seems to be the same, the slot where it plugs in seems loose.

how old is the computer? if its 3-4+ years old its not worth spending money on. you can get a pretty cheap notebook these days.

It's a couple years old. It almost seems the the male prong that goes into the power cord is sitting loosely. I wonder if I could open my laptop up and tighten it.

Thats just because it is going from an AC source to a battery power.

^no shit
you could use a sottering gun to sotter it back into place to make contact with the motherboard or you could get a professional do it. maybe geeksquad? I was about to fix mine when I realized the problem was the power cord itself and not the notebook. by i have 5 or 6 laptops laying around. swapped it and it was fine. i agree with B, if it costs more that $100 than forget it. buy new. |

Is this the original power cord or an aftermarket one. If you are going to buy an aftermarket power supply cord it will always cost double and come with universal connectors that fit less the perfect. If you find it is the cord and not the pin I recommend going to the website of you PC and ordering a new cord from them for about $70 some odd dollars

Thanks.
Shibby, from what I can tell its probably that the spring loaded piece that puts preasure on the connector inside the computer is the problem. Unless that is, the center prong actually moves when you touch it. |

The center prong and the housing like cylinder around it move.

Hey, you know the deal on my cycle. As for the computer, I just don't feel like going to get a screwdriver until this weekend.
