Anyone ever heard of this prison out in Arizona? The sheriff makes the prisoners wear pink etc..

Anyway, I was watching a show awhile back about this place. Sana had heard something about it on the radio the other day. We got into an argument about the guy Joe Arpaio that runs the place. His title is sheriff but I could have sworn that on the show I watched he was the Warden of the prison. Anyone have any idea?

Hell yeah. I was stationed in AZ back in 97. I think he should be President, lol. I'm not sure about his title.

Whats awesome? a prison made outta tents? that is silly 90% of thoes guys shouldnt even be in prison. most are silly crimes, kinda like if you got cought with steroids and were sent there. IMO I dont think you should.

The point of it all is that prisoners are treated far too good, and way too much money is spent in the process. Prisoners shouldn't be allowed to have cigarettes, pornography, cable tv and internet. He MAKES them learn to speak English, he limits what they "get" to eat, and even cutting back salt and pepper saved $20K. Now obviously they can't put serial killers out in tents, but why should ANY of them have the privilege of air conditioning, and warm showers? I don't see why it's "silly" as you stated.

yeah, on NPR yesterday, he said that he won't let his sheriff's deputy learn Spanish b/c if someone's coming to this country they can damn well learn english!

cigarettes have been outta california prisons for a long time now. pornagraphy? why cant they have a playboy or some other mag? cable TV thats funny california never had that one. internet when I was in prison that didnt exsist but I have no clue about now? I agree on salt and pepper if you cant buy it I dont think they should give it to you. you have to remember prisoners are people just like you that may have made a mistake. they should be able to live to their means. I dont think the prison should have to give things but they shouldnt take them either.

Well maybe you aren't aware of the "current" luxuries that some prisoners are allowed these days. It's not a matter of remembering that prisoners are "people" - you need to remember that they are being punished for something they did wrong. There is nothing inhumane being done to them - they're just being "reminded" that they aren't there for fun.

rocket, the point is to embarrass them and take away their sense of identity. all prisons should be run like that.

as for people that shouldn't be there, well that is whole different discussion. you can make that argument for every prison in the world.

All prisoners are innocent...just ask em'. Prisoners do not deserve the rights and/or privileges that 'free' society has.

Seriously though, I think people should think a lot more about going to prison when committing crimes. The phrase "I ain't scared of prison" shouldn't ever come out of anyone's mouth.

LOL ya people do convert to god. I personaly dont belive in him and I never have.
as far as someone saying they are not scared to goto prison that is silly. stick them in a real prison and we will see how fast they change their minds. I was in one of the worst places in california and it seriously took years off my life with the stress. that silly tent place is for minimum securty drug offenders that is nutting like a real prison.
