Yesterday the Canadian dollar was worth more than the US dollar. Over in Amsterdam places won't even take the US dollar cause it's worth shit. My g/f was over in France and the Euro is worth like 1.5 times more than our dollar. What the fuck is going on?

what does it matter, the US can produce everything it needs and be self sufficient if neds be and besides a weak dollar means that more countries outside the US want to import goods from there because its cheaper so its good for business. Look at it this way, if it keeps going all Asia will be driving Fords and wearing clothes made in the US!

i think its a good thing that we are being almost forced. it will mean more research into alternative power sources.

i agree - cause it hurts when i have to pay 430 a gallon to fill my truck - they need to come up with better ways -

aslong as we continue to rely on oil the prices will go up killing the economy - everything in this economy is soley built around fuel prices -

when a truck driver has to pay 800 $ eod to fill his tank to deliver goods and services its passed on -

fuel touches everything in this country - be it your car - your food - your house - your job etc etc

what kills me is the candidates running right now wont touch the issue - fuck iraq and other countries - time to take care of our own

Umm, no we can't produce everytihng we need to be self sufficient. That is so wrong, its not funny. Also, trade is a good thing, so we would NOT want to create things on our own. Finally, the weak dollar helps our trade advantage, but its not changing the United States trade dynamic. We will never be able to compete with China as long as they have absolutely now human rights laws. Also, considering we still are importing far more than we are exporting the shitty dollar makes things REALLY BAD for this country.

No, I'm not. However, the idea that people think protectionism is the way to save our country scares me. Free trade is the best thing for the world. It will increase overall wealth. And having a weak currency is a bad thing, especially when such an important commodity is valued in it. Weak dollar = more expensive oil.
