My new car.

Well I've been busy the last week or so. Really hadn't had time to update the situation on selling my RX8 and getting the new car. The sale for the RX8 was final on Wednesday. Even $15,000. Got a brand new 2008 Mazdaspeed 3 for $21,733. Invoice price, which isn't too bad on a limited edition car. This thing doesn't look like much compared to the 8, but its a fuckin rocket. The fastest car Mazda is making at the moment. I've had some problems hitting all my shifts because I'm stuck back in my seat.... Anyway, snapped some pics with my fiance's new digi camera.

(Dark tinted windows come next week.)

not a fan of the looks but i am glad the deal on your other car worked out. whats most important in your situation is a good reliable car.

looks like you made a good choice, even if it looks like something my grandmom should drive.

I'll be honest the looks are definately something I will have to get used to. Definately not as pretty as the RX8 but I forget about it when I get in and step on the gas. Plus I have a smile on my face whenever I pass a gas station because I know I won't be stopping there as much.

(The $150 a month payment for a brand new car isnt bad either.)

It may look like a grocery getter, but it's still better looking than the RX8...those cars are just ugly...period! They look like they thought about an RX7 in the back and progressively forgot what the hell the wanted to make working their way to the front.

Thanks bro. I have gotten it up to 120 a few times but I let off. It is still pulling hard at that point. Just unbelievable.

The girl loves it. She likes it 10X better than the 8. She even says it looks better than the 8.

(I love this car to death but there is no way in fuck it looks better than the 8.)

Killed me a new Mustang GT from a roll last night believe it or not. I think he was bone stock, but hey, so am I...

np bro

GT's r CRAP...of course you beat it...their mapping systems are horrible and those cars are losing MASSIVE power in the transfer case. NOT to mention they weigh about 2 tons......

just have fun in it and do crazy shit.... my friend totalled his EVO MR the 1st week tryin to drift it so ya, now he's stuck driving a civic hybrid

RX8 looks ok, nothin special....it didn't grab my attention....the only think about the MS3 that grabbed my attention were the rims, its loooked really big for that hatchback

Did you put down a lot? Just curious if the payment is cheap because of deals from Mazda, or because you put a good amount down. I was actually thinking about getting an 8, but I like the MS3.

Looks nice, maybe I will find me one in the next few months. Congrats.

Whats your average mile/gallon?

Put down 14K. Got 15K out of the RX8 and saved $1K of it. Basically I paid 22K after tax, tag, title, destination, dealer fee, etc. Can't beat the value. I financed through my credit union and got a rate of 5.14%. Not too bad.

They MS3 and the RX8 are both great cars. You won't have much torque with the 8, but its a fuckin doozy when you get up in its RPM range. But its nice with the MS3 to be able to carry my dog, fiance, and anything else I want to carry, and then beat 350Zs and S2000s; all in the same car.

As far as the MPG. My first tank was 17 MPG but I was driving the hell out of it. I do believe that 17 MPG is the worst possible mileage you can get with this car. I just put about 100 highway miles on my second tank it I have just under 3/4 of a tank, so I'm expecting well into the 20's this time. I'll let you know.

Both great cars though. Go test drive both because they are two different driving experiences, but both fun as hell. If you are still thinking about an RX8 then I would definately get one used. These things depreciate like wild fire. You can get an '06 with low mileage for $19K or so. Not really worth the $31K sticker price new IMO.

I have the Z now, and it is time for a change. I looked at the 8 about 4 months ago, drove one and loved it. And those thing are the worst at holding their value, people just refuse to accept the rotary engine. If I shop for an 8, I would want to find one for like 14.

I was liking the Prius for the m/g, and in black with tint it looks good. I then realized that it is extremely slow, and after my last car and now the Z, I just don't think I could ever get use to such a slow car.

Did you get navigation?

If for some reason you get bored, you could take some pics of the dash, a nice driver's view of the interior.

How does the dash area feel and appear to you? I basically mean cheap or nice.

I should just go test drive one.

Get shots of hatch, every door open, at night.......

I remember the only real problem I have with the MS3, it should be RWD or AWD.

Your car looks great, my cousin showed up at Christmas with the 3, and her husband also bought one. That is where they caught my eye, but I would deffinetly have to get the MS.

I hear you about the 8's resale value. I got $15,000 for my '04 with 60K miles and that was TOP dollar. I think a well maintained MS3 will hold its value nicely. It is already sooo much car for the money and there are only so many being sold. It would be nice if Mazda discontinued it in the next year or two like they did the MS6. That would really help resale value.

I would be glad to take some more pics of the interior when I get the chance. My fiance has the digi camera right now at her apartment. So I'll see when I can get my hands on it. MS3's interior is.... nice. I can't really call it any more than nice because I was spoiled by the 8's badass interior. It is definately not cheap looking. The guages really make it what it is. The radio is so so looking. Nothing to write home about. I opted for the Sport trim instead of the Grand Touring. So I have full cloth instead of the "leather". (It is really just a few spots of leather trimming.) No nav. (Never needed nav, I have maps) And I don't have the Bose system. (Small sacrafice here. Although the Bose system does sound amazing, Mazda's system in the Sport MS3 is just as good as any other new car on the market.) I personally don't think the Grand Touring is worth an extra 2K. The seats are actually more comfortable and look almost exactly the same in the Sport.

Definately test drive them back to back if you can. If you are coming from a Z, the RX8 will be a bit better handler, and a lot of fun to zip around with those high RPMs. On the other hand you might miss the torque. Coming to an MS3 you will have more room, more torque, almost as good of a handler. Just as much if not more fun to drive. On the other hand you will miss RWD just a bit. You will also might miss the looks of the Z compared to the MS3. (Personally I think the MS3 looks pretty good, but it just doesnt have that same badass sports car look as the RX8 or the 350Z.

Basically here is the list of things you get with the Speed 3 Grand Touring that you don't get in the Speed 3 Sport. (Accompanied by reasons I didn't need them )

-Bose System (Good system, but I bought the car to drive. I don't have to have top of the line sound. Especially when the Sport version's speakers sound pretty damn decent)

-Leather Trim (You have leather on the very sides of the seats and on the headrest. A couple of inches of leather for 2K? No thank you, especially when the Sport's seats look identical and are more comfortable.)

-Halogen Headlights (All I see is a nice attention getter for the cops here)

-Rain sensing wipers (I figured I could manage turning on the wipers when its raining)

-Indicator telling you how far you have until empty ( When I'm low on gas, I'll get more. Simple as that)

-Navigation (This is only optional on the Grand Touring. Some people like it, I personally would never use it so it would just be another couple hundred $$ wasted on top of the extra $2K)

-No sunroof with any package (Might have actually been something worth paying extra money for, but Mazda blew that)

-All of the performance and suspension aspects are the same in both trims.

Hope this all helped. I'll try to get some interior pics for ya soon. Or I might just jack someone else's from the 3 forums. All the same car.
