Got pulled over.. ticket question.

Was going 42 in a 25mph zone. The cop didn't give me a speeding ticket because of my good driving record. The problem though is that I had forgot my wallet that has my license and insurance card. I have to go to court and show them that I am in fact insured. My question is about the "failure to provide drivers license" ticket. On the back of the ticket it says the fine for that is $180! when i go to court will they reduce that? anyway to get it reduced? thanks

Isn't that going to be purely up to the judge's discretion? I'm sure he could throw the whole ticket out if he wanted.

I would assume that if you can produce the documents those chargers will be dropped since you cooperated with the police officer. Thats sounds more like an additional fine to people refusing to cooperate when pulled over.

If all you have on your ticket is show DL and insurance your fines will be droped after you show the 2 things.
I just sent in proof of insurance and if I didnt it would of been $1200 bucks. I dont know about jersey but here in cali we can do all that in the mail with zero court apperances. court sucks and its a waiste of time IMO.

Well down here in SC, every time I go to court, the judge cuts the fine in half if you are white.

I've always wanted to go to court for a speeding ticket and plead insanity.

I got one of those a few years back and all I did was go to court and show them my DL and my insurance card and penalty was $10 bucks. I don't know how it is in jersey but it shouldn't be that much different.
So just go to court and show them your shit, it's not like you got a job to go to.

A dick? He could have written him up for speeding and made his insurance possibly go up and made him pay the fine for sure. B cooperated it sounds like and he got off easy since he'll provide proof and learn his lesson. I'm not sure about where you are but in most states you are legally obligated to have some form of ID.

Few months ago I got pulled over for rolling a stop sign and got two fix-it tickets instead. I was totally stoked. Yea its a pain in the ass but its better and cheaper than a ding on the driving record.

They will still bang you with court fees. The judge has discretion in most cases in new jersey.
