I will not buy my daughters car, pay for insurance, buy her a bike, pay for its insurance, etc etc after she is 18 and fully capable of doing so on her own. I'm all about "supporting" my children - not providing handouts. I will teach my children responsibility, as my parents did with me.

don't think of me as some rich spoiled kid, THATS NOT ME...thats my cousins family and shit...

i have busted my ass in the past, especially during my freshman year of college...After my parents showed me for a year how tough life is, thats when they started re-paying for my stuff and i am now focusing hard on my education.

That's good - focusing on your education is certainly important. As soon as I graduated high school, I started college full time, got a job, and started paying for my own things. I didn't have to pay rent, but I did pay for my car, insurance, and stuff like that. I just know that today, I can look back and know that everything I have, I earned on my own and I'm happy for that.

You also have to understand the middle eastern family cultures...

my father was spoiled growing up, like they had everything: power, servants, money, cars, you name it...
but he made something for himself when he came here. Got a BS in engineering and now works for the state government making good money.

So my dad kind of passed that on to my brother and I, and i guess he adapted to that custom. and i guess my mom grew in that custom and did the same, lol...

anyway enough of me ranting on and on...

half the board thinks i am crazy anyway...
I need to go and sleep, damn summer class starts at 9am

Providing things for your children that are 'above and beyond' the mandatory life expenditures does not equate to irresponsibility. I am one of the most responsible people I know and I have had almost everything handed to me. My father has encouraged my interests, for the most part, without regards to his wallet. I don't see how this is such an extremely bad thing if you have the means.

I have had a job since I was 17 and I have volunteered since I was 12. I don't see how the two commingle. Its as simple as this, you can give your child nothing and they can still be completely and totally unaccountable for the things they do. You can give your child everything and they can still be honest and accountable for things.

Or I can say what *I* will do with my children and you can wait until you're even a parent and decide what YOU will do.

And your comment about "above and beyond" is just plain ridiculous. You don't know a damn thing about parenting, nor do you have a clue what MY children may/may not have. You're totally missing the point because you do live off "handouts." I may disagree you're the "most responsible person" just based off of things you've said here. But since we've all had this discussion before about how you think rules and such don't apply to YOU, I won't bother.

I just want to clarify that I never said you depraved your children of anything 'above and beyond' what is required. YOU were judging the way DNA parents were raising he and his brother. My statement was more broad than you, imagine that. However, your opinion that giving your child a car after the age of 18 is judgmental. You're just a judgmental person, though.

You're going to have to show me where I said, the 'rules' don't apply to me. I must have brushed over that one when I typed it out. If I recall correctly my words were that the law was plain stupid. It encourages irresponsible behavior. That is okay, I can see how you would extrapolate that meaning from what I said.

And finally I have been working with kids for 5 years and I have seen many kids grow up through day camp. I may not be a parent, but I understand boundaries.

That took all of 5 minutes, no effort required. Go to the training section.

Preparation time. After typing that I realized how it sounded and stopped eating the effing pretzel even though it was my only joy in the day.
