So I am flying at the end of the month...

US Airways | In-flight Café

No more meals included and I just saw this about the in flight services. Luckily our return flight is July 31.

* After August 1, 2008, non-alcoholic beverages will cost $2 and alcoholic beverages will cost $7. Non-alcoholic beverages will be provided free of charge for unaccompanied minors. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be complimentary for all passengers on US Airways Shuttle and transatlantic flights.

I agree and if this is the way they save money to keep ticket prices down, it's fine by me. The only thing is about the non-alcoholic drinks starting to cost money. I would rather bring my own for that too, but it's crazy to see how the world is rapidly changing to compensate for fuel costs.

Pretty sure it was U.S. Airways I got stuck on the tarmac with for almost 4 hours last August - they didn't offer not one drink for free either...

Now this is getting redicoulous, this doesn't apply to me because of purchase date, but is something future flyers (maybe not all airlines) might want to know.

US Airways | Baggage policies

US Airways will assess a $15 fee for passengers’ first checked bags. If you purchased a ticket before July 9, the fee won’t apply. We’ve also recently begun charging $25 for second checked bags. The new checked bag policies apply to all flights to and from Canada (beginning July 28, 2008 for flights to/from Canada) Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as flights within the U.S.

Bill O'Reily had a bit on his show last night attacking the FAA for *allowing* the airlines to suspend flights due to poorly laid flight patterns thrown off track from thunderstorms in the path of their destination - he made some really good points but was talking out of both sides of his mouth in regards to the government needing to step back in and "do something" about this atrocity yet just a few days ago he was chastising the government for being too involved in business matters that should regulate themselves - it was quite comical to say the least but the issue still stands - the airlines are being *allowed* to screw over pretty much everyone involved in their business dealings...

IMHO, I think Bill O'Reilly has always talked out of both sides of his mouth. The thing that I find so comical about his show, is that he claims you're entering a "No Spin Zone". Yet he puts his .02 on everything and spins it to his liking. I love how he'll have guests on his show that may offer an alternative view of things, and he flat out just cuts them off, and really only gives the person who agrees with him the air time. he is such a douche bag. I can't watch his show for anything.

Most of the major carriers are imposing this fee.

Well said - definitely don't watch his show for anything more than sh*ts and giggles nowadays that's for sure...

Lots of carriers are charging large fees for checked bags over a certain weight as well - it's a ridiculous amount too ....

I've known about bags that weigh to much, that's been around a long time, but to pay to bring a suit case now... What's next no carry on's.

Well,, and the airlines are even policing those carry ons now more than ever! To make sure it truly will fit in the overhead compartment. Its sad, really. I think I saw on one of the news shows that basically about 80% of the fare now just goes to pay for the fuel!
