Gas prices dropping big time.

All the gas stations around here are now at $3.80 a gal for regular. What the hell happened? I filled up on Wed and it was $4.10 a gal..

Funny how that happened right around the time Bush declared that he'd be lifting the ban on offshore drilling, after the Democrats swore up and down that such a move would make no difference.

"Oil demand in the world's top consumer has slipped this summer compared with last year, as Americans scale back holiday travel plans."

As usual things will only start to get fixed when we hit rock bottom.

oil companies seem to do this over and over again. they raise the prices, then they drop them a little and we get a sense of comfort and then they jack em up higher than before. its a cycle that i have notice happening over and over again.

You guys are lucky with the mass drops...It was $3.99 a gallon for Octane 87 last week, and two days ago it dropped to $3.95 a gallon.

Diesel hasn't changed at all.

Well, here's the thing- There is an oversupply of oil- which was not predicted. Americans aren't as dumb as we used to be. Due to the high fuel & food costs, people are just starting to make better choices. People are taking the bus, or carpooling now more than EVER. They did a thing here on the local news about it. Several commuter lots were running out of parking spaces because people are starting to wise up, and refusing to play the big oil congolmerate's game any longer. People will still continue to do this I think until gas gets under $3. The funniest part of this is. is my area does not have a good mass transit system. There's one that goes through downtown, but nothing elaborate. Yet people here still are finding ways to not so much gas. However, once people realize how easy it really is to use mass transit, I'm not so sure all of them will go back to driving to work.

Gas around here has only dropped about $.30.

I know my work started offering 4-10's to a lot of people because of gas prices.

A lot of companies are implementing things like that. People that make $30-$40k with families, are really the ones who are hurting the most right now. Many call these people the "working poor". Due to the astronomical costs of health care, rising cost of food and gas, it's making it even harder for these people to justify working. Especially once you factor in the cost of child care. It's really sad.
