Do you still live in the same area you grew up in?

At this time of the year I start thinking about my old hometown a lot...how I'd look forward to snow days and no school, shovelling my neighbors sidewalk (they were an elderly couple) and them having me in for some hot chocolate and home made cookies, building forts in the snow and having snowball fights with the kids...I always lost, all my neighbors were boys and I sucked at packing a snowball. I really feel the difference of moving away from home at this time of the year...especially with the climate being so different. But since I'm not a kid anymore I'm glad I live in FL...the cold and snow are not as appealing to me anymore.

Do you still live in the area you grew up in or have you moved away? Are you glad you live where you do?

hell yeah, ive been living here in my city for the past 22 years now. The home here im am at Ive been here since i was 3 , all good and i love it. Wouldnt change anything.

no I am in the same state but three hours south of my hometown. but in about a year and half I will be moving to hopefully maryland after I get married.

Nope i grew up in maryland... I currently live in northern florida.... I will be heading home for Xmas.... I cant waite to see some of my friends.

Kind of. I moved to FL when I was 6 so I don't remember much about living up north.
So for the most part I grew up in FL. but Tampa is a lot differant the Ft. Lauderdale.
That's one of the reasons I don't like the holidays. None of family is here anymore And I miss the things I did back then.
From the age of about 13 till I joined the Marines all my friends and I would get together after doing the x-mas morning stuff with out families and drive to Cocobeach and go surfing.
I'm the only one still in FL so that doesn't happen any more either.

Did I mention I hate the holidays.

I moved here from Monteal at age 2 1/2....and have no intentions of ever leaving permanently. I may decide to spend the majority of the winter in the southern US when I get old, but I can't ever see myself leaving this area for good. It's just too perfect here in the summer and fall.

I have moved around since the age of 2 my homes have included Florida, Connecticut, Ohio, Neveda, Washngton, and now Jersey. It was good growing up because I learned how to network by making new friends, however I dont have any solid friends which I have deep rooted memorys with.

Grew up in Utah. Moved to southern cali for 8 years after college graduation, then moved back to utah about 2 years ago.

Grew up in a very small town in Pa and now live in Tampa. I don't miss the small towm bullshit (like knowing everything about someones life, but not actually personally knowing them), but I do miss my family and tight circle of friends. It's hard to replicate the friendships that are created through your youth.

First 12 yrs., very small town in Jersey, all relatives all around, we were the first family ever to move away, moved too...

Chicago, then Alabama, then Maryland, then dallas

From age 12 to 28 ended moving like 20 times, arghhhhh.

So have memories exactly like yours Mrs. P, plus all of my relatives am very close with and always miss them.

Then had that gap where I was a nomad which was very tough, no roots whatsoever, and I operate much better with strong roots, cause in certain ways I'm a nut. A nut with roots good, a nut on the high open range, you get a nut job.

Some times you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't.

Prefer the don't.

I grew up in a small town in Sask. Canada, then moved to Calgary, Ab to go to school, then I was hired by a big company in the bay area Ca and have been here for 7 years. I want to leave though. High cost of living and the rat race makes it undesireable to me, the weather is great though.

Nope, I moved outta there so fast my shoes were on fire. . .I have some good memories but I will not be going back there unless it is to retire and kick back.. .
nobody ever did anything of major importance where I am from and most of my friends friends from public school still wake up and have a beer and go off to a job they hate. I think there was a handful of people from my class in high school that got out and they never go back except to see family.
I would say it is a good place to raise a child too keep them out of trouble but it sure is boring!

I moved to Fla from NY about 15 years ago. Sometimes I really miss it. There was a sense of "Neighborhood" that is really not here.

But then again I would have to have a shit load of money in NY to live like I do here.

I still miss is sometimes though.

I grew up in a small town in Ohio. One of the best things I ever did was move away from there. I have been able to see many different places and a lot of different cultures. that's something that I never would have experienced in a small town.

and of course i joined the army and met my wonderful wife. I definetly never would have found BronzedGoddess in a small town in Ohio.

I go back occasionally to visit with family. It's usually a pretty good reminder as to why i moved away. IMO, you have to get out and experience life.
