DON'T CALL IT A COMEBACK
Cause i ain't there... yet
It's been a long while since i posted pictures. Last time i was getting ready for a comp in June, but i hurt my back in march and was unable to keep training. So since then i worked out very randomly due to school and lost a lot of my gains. I started training pretty regulary about a month ago. i hope to get back where i was before too long. And hopefully surpass that Current stats are around 180lbs or so and bf at 5.5% i have not been training my arms purposely to build up my core to match them. I feel my arms were out of proportion to the rest of me last time. here are the old pics VenomX update! 4 months out Any crits will help thanks These next two poses are my weakest, anything you can recommend to make them better or what to develop to make them better would greatly be appreciated. Coming back is no fun, but it better than being small Last edited by Venom X : 11-28-04 at 10:56 AM. |

You're looking real good for being away for a while. Do you keep the bf that low all year round? If so how the hell you do it?

Thanks Timma
yes my body fat stays this low or lower all year round.... its just genetics. I eat ALOT of carbs and junk food to keep it up at 5.5% if i didn't it would be around 4%-4.5% i've actually been trying to get it higher so i would have more energy through the day and help put on more muscle.

Your bodyfat is probably around 10%, not 5.5...

I highly doubt he is at 10% bro. I am at 6.1% and he looks more ripped up than me.

Guys there are no real accurate Bodyfat measurers save a few very expensive ones starting around 1500 dollars. Don't believe the infared, calipers or the other cheap methods. just use the mirror and camera to judge results. Again I agree he is not 5.5 but no one knows for sure since it is hard to measure. And venom you look awesome with great potential. Just bring your chest and back up a bit more and you will look better in those poses you don't like.

I agree SC, however... it appears people here are mistaken about how much body fat is actually carried. To say youre 5.5% (not taking anything away from him, he's in excellent shape/condition) but theres a strong misunderstanding about body fat norms. I remember back in the day when an announcers said "Bo Jackson comes into this game at around 1% bodyfat, thats amazing" Now most fans think thats stellar, but anyone with any sense knows thats comical. 5.5% is a normal competition body fat level, to be that year around is unhealthy.
Check the NSCA's Position Statement on body fat. Good stuff.

kahoona32 - yes i hoping with muscle memory i can meet and exceed my old status by february, and yes im still natural
pumpdogg - knowledge is power my friend, some think steroids are a miracle drug but without the right tools you won't get results Pheonix782 - thanks for the encouragement slashmonay - thanks brother stonecold - im really focusing on core to bring out the chest and back, hopefully i will see good results over the next few months G-S, YellowJacket and stonecold - i was caliper tested 3 weeks ago at 5.5% at our school medical center. It's not a guestimate. I know its not the most acurate test but thats what i've always used, and it also provides a standard to compare gains and loses to. i tend to hold a bit of water which makes me look smoother so that maybe whats misleading you somewhat. |

Calipers are inaccurate c.2.2% in some instances. Im not sure who did the testing (I would assume a health care provider or a strength and conditioning specialist) but you may want to have it re-checked as I think they're a bit off. And unfortunately, water is a factor in considering total body fat. So if youre holding water, technically speaking, its considered body fat.

whatever's clever man, i doesn't matter much to me anyway, as long as i look good lol, im just reporting what i was told, i was actually surprised when they told me cause i thought it was closer to 6.5 or so but whatever... like i said its a standard that i can compare future tests to accurate or not.

Make sure the same individual tests you each time, although most likely inaccurate and gains or losses in bodyfat will most likely be accurate.
At a glance you look somewhere around 8-9% (8 being generous)

Venom X,
Who gives a shit about % bodyfat, you don't see competition judges prodding Ronnie Coleman with calipers and writing the results on his scorecard, you could tell me that Kevin Levrone was 30% bodyfat, it would mean jack, he still looks amazing. You look in great shape, good genetics, balance, symetry and muscularity. Personally I don't believe in undertraining a body part to allow others to supposedly catch up, if your training all the muscles right then the rest is down to genetics. Your arms don't look out of place relative to the rest of your body so go to it. In any case, don't you think it would have been a shame if Tom Platz had stopped training his legs because they were growing too well?

if you want to use benchmarks it is better to just record the millimeters recorded for the sites (use about 8). don't put them in the formula as that is when it goes to shit.

Yellow: lets just call it 15%
Mr. Incredible: Good points bro, however i think i will keep trying this until mid January to see how it works for me, after that i think i will move to a pre exhaustion routine, where i work shoulders and arms first so when i hit chest and back they will be targeted more directly. Stonecold - excellent point i will get the mm next time i get tested, i believe they have the old measurments on file also Timma - no Santa? TP - Thanks as always |
