I have been separating my workouts: arms, chest, back etc. for some time now. I hear conflicting arguments on the merits of doing chest with triceps or back with biceps, the traditional lifting program, instead of breaking the workouts up into separate days. My only exception is that I combine legs with shoulders. Should I try combining the diferent body parts or is it better for overall effect to keep them separte? I appreciate all opinions on the matter.

Combine your workouts into an upperbody day and a lowerbody day. Work both upperbody and lowerbody 2x a week, but keep all sets and reps 2-3reps shy of failure. Training to failure is brutal on the CNS and may not necessarily create the most hypertrophy.
You can try it and give it a shot for a few weeks if you wish. IT has helped me greatly. -Brian |

depends on whay you do, powerlift or bodybuild. If you bodybuild then i suggest you differ the days between mixing a workout that involves the same muscles i.e chest and tris back, bis. But for powerlifting this is acceptable as you may be trying to improve the muscles you are weak in all your lifts!
