Help with Cardio & Weight Training...

Hey Guys,
I need some help as I am new to exercising. I am 5'10" and roughly 185lbs. My goal is to lose a few pounds (I have a stomach and lub handles) but I also want to add muscle mass.

Lately I have been going on the treadmill everyday for 30 minutes (fast walk) and weight training every other day (different body parts).

Just want to get some of your opinions what I should be doing to lose body fat but gain muscle mass. I dont really want to bulk up as I want to lose the fat but gain muscle. How many times per week should I go on the treadmill and how many times per week should I weight train. Also should I weight train heavy with less reps or light with more reps or mix it up and do both?

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

Scrumhalf will become famous soon enough
You haven't talked about the most important component - diet. What does your current diet look like?

And I wouldn't worry about bulking up too much - I wish it were that easy... lol.

My diet has been the biggest problem, but I will fix that once I get serious about the exercising and understand what I have to do in order to gain muscle mass and lose body fat.

u should really start the diet first then when ur comfortable with that... start ur diet. Never start all in one day. Crash diet with excercise = suicide. N your body is bound to hit rock bottom. I did it before and jesus i felt so wiped. Anyays work on that diet b4 u do the tredmill and hit all these weights because if your eatting wrong then all the hardwork might not be paying off too much...
For example going on the tred for 30 mins then having a steak n potato dinner n a slice of cheese cake =p. But with weights lift 3 times a week if your not gonna be real hardcore about it. try something like. Bi's Tri's Trap's Delt's on Monday. Wenedsay Legs and Abs. Then Friday Chest and Back. Sunday I like to hit the abs up again with no weights though purely just body weight. I like to hit it one day with weights then another with out.
