bill pearl's theory

I have a huge book written by Bill Pearl, called "Keys to the Inner Universe". There are tons of exercises, routines, and diets hints in the book. It seems that people are always tossing around different theorys for ab workouts.

Bill Pearl suggests for an advanceded weight training program one should start his/her routine, meaning 5 days a week, with abs and do 50-100 reps and do four different variations.

any opinions on this theory

depends on your goals. if your trying to lean out and have endurance yeah i say go high reps. but if your already fairly lean, i say less reps and use weights. like any muscle, abs develop with resistance. would you do 100 bicep curls? probably not

hey, anything is good once in awhile, tremendous weight with only one rep, or even negative reps with a spotter are good to shock the muscle once in a while, but on a consistent basis if your trying to develop a strong, good looking midsection, lower reps with weights is a must,,,don't believe me? do a search of the site on the subject, garunteed you get the same response

yeah mdam21 knows what he is talikng about. Muscles build with resistance and heavy weight, your abs are no different, so treat them the same as any other muscle group. But why do 100 reps for biceps? waste of time i have never direcly trained biceps before with a curl etc, and they are 17 inches(natural) they get such a good work out form other lifts i.e rows, pulldowns, deads etc. Feel the burn? if you want a burn light a match! lol
