It's all fine. No worries, for best protein absorption combine with eggdrop soup. Eggroll is however greatly inferior to the springroll for a good clean source of EFA's.

One man's cow is another man's cat - who's to say which is right and which is wrong?

http://www.msgfacts.com/facts/msgfact01.html MSG is a flavor enhancer which has been used effectively for nearly a century to bring out the best flavor of foods. Its principal component is an amino acid called glutamic acid or glutamate. Glutamate is found naturally in protein-containing foods such as meat, vegetables, poultry and milk. The human body also produces glutamate naturally in large amounts. The muscles, brain and other body organs contain about four pounds of glutamate, and human milk is rich in glutamate, compared to cow's milk, for example. Glutamate is found in two forms: "bound" glutamate (linked to other amino acids forming a protein molecule) and "free" glutamate (not linked to protein). Only free glutamate is effective in enhancing the flavor of food. Foods often used for their flavoring qualities, such as tomatoes and mushrooms, have high levels of naturally occurring free glutamate |

I would interpret that to mean that MSG isn't bad for you. I would also point out that a lot of Chinese restaurants are MSG-free so that isn't necessarily a reason to not go to a Chinese restaurant. A lot of Chinese food is not deep fried either and you can order meals that don't have sugary sauces and, on very rare occasions, you can even find one that serves brown rice.

Anyway, my point is that we in the West should not impose our cultural values on other societies, at least when it comes to culinary issues. By any objective yardstick, who's to say eating cows is morally defensible while eating other animals isn't? I think Brigit Bardot was totally off base when she made a big case of Koreans eating dogs before the soccer world cup. Westerners have eaten beef for thousands of years. Likewise, oriental societies have eaten dogs or snakes, and African societies have eater monkeys for a long long time. Maybe they find the idea of eating cows repugnant as well.....

Indians would find it very offensive-cows are considered holy to religious groups in India. We also don't understand that the dogs they eat are raised for eating-they're not pets.

if you want to eat chinese food and you're dieting 2 key things:
1. make sure the resturant doesn't use msg 2. have then give you steamed chicken & broccoli or beef & broccoli with brown sauce on the side. general tso's is deep fried then covered in sauce so you can't make a comparison. control your portions and control the amount of brown sauce you use (sparringly). have the rice, just not the whole bucket of it they give you. |

High in sodium
Most of it is fried including the rice. High in saturated fat. Most meals are 1500 calories + Many Chinese places in NY now offer healthy alternatives. Brown Rice (not fried) w/ boiled chicken and veggies - peanut sause. |
